Week 5 Start Em, Sit Em

Post#1 » by JDP » Tue Oct 5, 2010 7:41 pm

I guess ill start this week off

QB: Flacco or Orton they are both playing each other and my only options Ravens D has limited opposing QB's this season and Flacco did alright against a stout Pittsburgh D but Boldins probably matched up against Bailey this week so its risky. Orton the guys been fantastic but the Ravens are better than any Defense hes faced yet if anyone has some insight on this it would be appreciated.

RB : I usually run 3 RB's using one as my flex
I'm considering Michael Turner a must start over the Browns even though they've been pretty good against the run I always have a hard time benching this guy so pick 2 of the next 3 RBs.

Best v. Rams
Foster v. Giants
Charles v. Colts

I got leans with Best and Charles but I'm considering Foster since hes been so solid for me this season but the matchups would dictate Best and Charles, hes risky since hes a time share but Foster torched the Colts D I think Charles can too.

WR: My League Fields 3 WRS I figure I gotta go with Colston v. Cards as my WR1 do or die with him this week I dont think he'll get a better match up so pick 2 of the next 3 WRs

Bowe V. Colts
Clayton V Lions* strong lean on him as my WR 2
Mike Williams v. Bengals

wow your teams look alot like mine :D

I would start Foster still.....dont think Giants D is as good as it would seem thanks to the Chi game, I also have best/charles off the two I trust Charles more even with the split carries, Best has that toe issue, I think that type of injury last all season. as for WR I couldn't help you but I do like Clayton since Bradford looks like the real deal.

I also have Rice on team, do you think he finally gets going here against Den? Johnson got 20pts against them but alot of that was due to TD's, his rushing #'s weren't all that impressive and Rice hasn't been impressive in TD either. SO with that Rice or Charles? Seems like I got super LUCKY with picking up foster since no one in my league knew nothing of him, he wasn't even drafted lol, but at the same time I'm also unlucky as I got the super bust thus far for a 1st pick in Rice.

Denver's been pretty solid against the run and the Colts are the Colts. I'm a Charles owner so you know the risk and reward with this guy for now I'd say start Jamaal especially if Ray's injury isn't cleared up it looks like McGahee and Boldin have been killing Ray's TD value. Even with the timeshare you gotta think Jamaal can torch the Colts d while Ray is a question mark he hasn't gotten it going all year if your confident in Charles this week is it worth trying bank on a turn around game?

Anyways Jamaal is boom or bust but ill prob get on the bandwagon with this weekend too so well see what happens.

you said we had similar teams whats your record by the way? I'm 3-1 and in second in my league

same record bro, should've been 4-0 but F up big time in week 1, playing RICE against Jets instead of Foster, I wasn't sure bout him then everything up to then was just hype.

Schaub vs. Giants

OR

Flacco vs. Broncos

as far as running backs go I have 4 and I'm going to use 3 of them.

AP @ NYJ

Peyton Hillis vs. ATL

Jahvid Best vs. STL

Jamaal Charles @ Indy

AP & Hillis are definites for me but I'm debating between Best & Charles.

Schaub is a bit of a toss up these days but I'd go with him. I think with Bailey on Boldin the Ravens go to the ground more.

Agree with AP and Hillis. Really tough one though. Indy is a pretty nice matchup but who knows with Charles touches. I think it depends on Best's toe. If he looks like he's still banged up going into STL I'd go Charles, if not I'd go with the Rookie because he's more likely to score.

This one might sound a little wack but:
Cutler @ Carolina
Hill vs. STL

I'm pretty sure Cutler will play but I'm not sure how much they can fix that line in a week. Carolina did pretty well against breeze so I'm not thrill about the matchup for a post-concussion Cutler. Hill on the other hand is throwing it 40 to 50 times a game and I think that game will be a shootout.

^^^You still have faith in Cutler? I"m not sure myself, I have to chose between Cutler or McNabb against a pretty ball hawkish team in GB. Like chosing between getting kicked in left or right balls either way its gona hurt lol.

Cutler has had 2 great weeks and one very good week to go with last week's disaster. I was very happy with him before last week. That said, I drafted Big Ben for a reason.

Would anyone drop MSW for Tate given the Moss rumors? I know its a risk but MSW has been a disaster.

I have Tate in a league that counts return yards so he's been pretty valuable to me as a flex option, and if Moss gets traded he should see more opportunities.

I just traded Schaub/Torain/Randy Moss for Spiller/Brady. I probably gave up a bit much throwing in Moss but I don't think he'd do it otherwise, and I like Spiller now that Lynch is gone and the league counts return yards. Plus I just needed more help at RB than WR since I still have Collie/Mike Wallace/Clayton/Tate. Thankfully Ben is coming back so Wallace should be more valuable now.

Not sure who to use as a flex this week though with a bunch of BYE's. I have McGahee/Stewart/Blount to choose from. I am leaning towards Blount to get some goal-line opportunities, but it's either between him or McGahee I think, since Stewart has been utterly useless at this point.
We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.

Sims-Walker is a mess Tate could be a good pick if Moss goes to the Vikes him Hernandez and Gronkowski should get a bump in targets ... anyone know what the compensation for Moss is going to be is it going to a picks deal or you think the Pats are gunna get a wideout coming back? That could effective his value but since hes running kicks back he should be worth a pick up.

I'd go with Clayton and Mike Williams as your WR's.

On to Foster. It's week 5, when are people going to understand he is an every week start, matchup be damned? Never sit this guy. He'll be a unanimous top 5 pick next year as long as he's healthy, maybe as high as 2nd overall

I like Flacco a lot this week, but I'm not sitting Schaub vs. the Giants even though they may control the game on the ground. Too much of a chance Schaub blows up for like 250 and 2 just in the first half and winds up with 300+.

Tough calls all around on RB's. Peterson is a must start even with a bad matchup.
I'd go with Best and Charles, although I hate the matchup for the Chiefs, they might fall way behind early and almost completely abandon the run.

Oh my you got raped.
I wouldn't have done Schaub/Torain for Brady/Spiller and you throw in a top WR1?!
Disgusting.

Funny, out of these 3 I'll go with Stewart this week.

Let's ASSUME Andre Johnson and Pierre Thomas don't play this week (If they're playing they're a lock in).

Pick 3:

s moss vs GB
holmes vs MIN
clayton @ DET
sims walker @ BUF

Pick 1:

Ivory @ ARI
Fred Jackson vs JAX
Bell @ SF
Mcgahee vs DEN
Do not max Vuc!

I'd sit Sims-Walker out of the WRs. If Andre comes back I'd sit Holmes as well. He'll be good but his timing with Sanchez will likely be off this week. GB's secondary looked like crap last week so I think Moss should do OK. I like Clayton the most out of all 4 next week. I think Det-Stl turns into a shootout.

RBs is tougher. Definitely not Bell. Arizona's run D is pretty bad but I'd still prefer Jackson and Mcgahee over Ivory. I'd probably go Mcgahee just because he's got the best chance of scoring.
