Week 6 Start/Sit

Post#1 » by ZedgetRedd » Tue Oct 12, 2010 11:38 pm

I am debating between starting Ryan Torain, Davone Bess, or Louis Murphy in my flex spot, and Zach Miller and Vernon Davis in my TE spot. Currently leaning with Torain and Miller, but that can change at any time.

Torain is a no brainer. He may be overrated but hell he could have a break-out game...you never know. I have him on my squad but he's sitting pretty on my bench this week behind Mendenhall and Turner. The Miller/Davis one is a tough call...Miller however seems to be the centerpiece of Oakland's passing offense. Davis may take a hit this weekend as it seems that Crabtree is finally getting things going. I'd go with Miller too...

Here is my situation guys:

QB sit/start: Sanchez or Brady. Brady has a tough match-up against Baltimore (who give up just over 100 yards passing a game). PLUS, the Pats now are Moss-less. Where as Sanchez is playing the Broncos who have given up 8 td passes already.

Defense is a tough call for me too...Do I go with New England's D against Baltimore. An offense that shredded them in the playoffs last season. Or San Francisco's defense against Oakland...Oakland looked good (not great) on offense on Sunday and the 9ers defense is just waiting for a breakout game...But if I do start the 9ers defense, should I then continue to start Zach Miller. That seems like a lose/lose situation or a win/win situation depending on how you look at it.

^^^I would go with Pats D, not because of the D but the special team side, I dont think NE or SF will force many TO and will probably give up lots of points but at least with Pats you got chance to make up for it with punts/KO returns for TD w/Tate, Niner got no chance at doing that. Would go with Brady, just the better talent, Balt D is nice but Orton still manage 20pts agaisnt them, so I would say Brady has a good chance, even though there's no Moss, it just means Balt would not know who to really cover as Brady will look to everyone.

as for me:

Malcom Floyd or D. Jackson?

Pick 1
Mcfadden, M. Bush, Foster?
I have both McD and Bush in event that McD does not return this week.

Torain and Miller. I might consider Bess over Torian if it's a PPR league, since GB is missing most of their LBs and Bess should be able to work the underneath routes effectively. As for Miller v. Davis, I'd go with the guy who doesn't have Alex Smith throwing to him.

Brady over Sanchez -- Denver just threw all over the Ravens. You might note that the QBs the Ravens D "shut down" in the first four weeks were Sanchez (who looked awful that game), Palmer, Wallace and Batch. Sanchez could do the same, but the Pats are going to have something to prove coming out of the bye week.

As for defense, drop the Niners for someone on the waiver wire. They are not worth owning. If that's not an option, play the Pats. They might give up some points, but at least they have young play makers, so defensive touchdowns are always a possibility (at worst, they'll snag a few interceptions and/or fumbles).

Floyd against St Louis' pass D is an easy call. The Rams will have to focus on either Gates or Flyod -- their secondary isn't good enough to take away both. Atlanta hasn't faced a great pass offense yet, but they're a good enough defense that they can take away the deep threat and force Kolb to keep checking down.

I also don't care how surprisingly frisky the KC defense has looked -- you don't sit Foster in favour of either Oakland running back.

---- Start 3 WRs ----
Dwayne Bowe, Jemery Maclin, Wes Welker, Mike WIlliams (TB)
After Bowe's awful performance last week, it's very tempting to sit him. However, a) Houston's pass D is ludicrously awful and b) I could absolutely see Haley going right back to him this weekend to get his confidence back. Maclin is at home against Atlanta, Welker is at home against Baltimore, and Williams is at home against New Orleans. Bowe and Williams clearly have the best matchups, but Welker and Maclin are the best players.

---- Start a TE ----
Jason Witten or Zach Miller
Miller is turning into a beast, and SF's defense is awful. Minny has faced two teams without real TE threats (NO and Mia), Detroit's TEs put up 16 points against them, and Keller was a nonfactor b/c of the weather, so their TE defense doesn't really scare me either. Leaning heavily toward Miller, but I just wanted to be sure.

A reminder to everyone reading this thread -- if you want help with your team, answer a few questions first. None of us are experts, we're a bunch of guys who want to talk about our fantasy teams. It works much better if lots of posters are willing to type out their thoughts on other people's predicaments, rather than have everyone just toss their question out because the ESPN or CBS guys haven't answered your email.

And for Maritimer, Maclin, Williams, and Bowe. I wouldn't start Welker until I see how he does without Moss. TE, I would go Miller, easily.

Maritime....I would go M. Wiliams/Bowe/Maclain & Miller....agreed per above I have to see what Pats do now w/o Moss taking away attention from Welker, most likely I see the TE/RB getting more dinks and dunk passes. Freaking thanks to Colb, Jackson is now as pedestrian as your avg. 4th WR but Maclain still gets alot of target from Colb though. Miller has been on a tear so gota go that route, Minn kept Keller in check pretty well on MNF.

Titans

I currently have the seahawks D @ CHI would you drop them for the Patriots vs. BAL?

I pick/drop defenses weekly, didnt draft one at all. SEA has Ari, Oak the next 2 weeks and NE has SD/MIN so i was tentative to drop Sea. For some reason every team in my league has 2 defenses the waiver wire is crap.

I wouldn't drop Seattle. Worst case scenario Chicago puts up some points but Seattle still gets some sacks and a pick. They may not tear it but they'll be solid. Plus they have solid special teams.

^ Hillis and Ben. Brandon Jackson is really bad regardless of having one very solid game against a Washington D that has been awful this year, and if Flacco and Palmer can rout the Browns secondary, I'm sure a rusty Ben can as well.

Flacco simply because the Jets secondary is pretty good with or without Revis. Although Flacco is a little erratic when the d gets pressure on him. I'm starting Flacco over schaub this week (2nd week in a row).

I'd go with Charles over Best for a couple of reasons. 1- Best is injured. I know he's been playing through the pain & has been somewhat productive but against the Giants D forget about it. 2- Seems like Haley is giving Charles more carries than Jones now.

I have 1 spot for either a rb or wr & I'm debating between Peyton Hillis vs. Pitt/Michael Bush vs. SF/Jahvid Best vs. NYG/Greg Jennings vs. Miami/Hines Ward vs. Cleveland Browns (Big Ben returns)

i'm kind of leaning towards Michael Bush but I really have no clue. Hillis & Best are injured & playing good defenses, Jennings is inconsistent & Aaron Rodgers is hurt & Hines Ward has done nothing all season. Big Ben might go to Wallace more than Ward as well.
