Trent Richardson: Beast or Bust

Hey everyone! I wanted to see your personal opinions on Trent Richardson. I have see a lot of mixed reviews and I recently drafted him in the 4th round pick 51 overall (14 team standard scoring league).

I was contemplating trading him for Matt Schaub as I am hurting for a QB (currently have Andrew Luck as my starter for week 1).

14 team standard (QB, RB, WR, WR, WR/TE, TE, Q/RB/WR/TE, K, D) 4pts for a pass td 6 for a rushing td.
POS: NAME (Draft Number)
QB: Andrew Luck (62)
RB: Ray Rice (6)
WR: Larry Fitzgerald (23)
WR: AJ Green (34)
WR/TE: Robert Meacham (79)
TE: Fred Davis (90)
QB/RB/WR/TE: TRENT RICHARDSON (51)
K: Stephen Janikowski (118)
D: 49ers (107)

Should i ride the Trent Richardson bandwagon or get off before its too late?

Hmm, well in general I'm a fan of Richardson and think he's going to be a really good back (might be a little bias here, been a huge fan of his since I saw him at Bama). I know on most sites he's a late 2nd/early 3rd round pick, which is about right imo. I was shocked to see that he went in the 4th round in a 14 team league, then I saw how weird your lineups are...

Probably only half the teams in your league are going to start more then one RB, being able to play a QB in that QB/RB/WR/TE spot is just far too good to pass up. Look at Matt Schaub, he played only 10 games last year and averaged about 16.4 points a game (going by Yahoo's scoring). Only 4 RB's averaged more points than that (Rice, McCoy, MJD and Foster ... FWIW Forte, DMC and Peterson were close, but then missed games due to injuries). Basically what I'm trying to show you is that even super duper elite RB's produce around average QB's level (slightly more, but w/e). So the question is do you think that TRich is going to be a super duper elite RB, right off the bat? I'm a fan of his, but even I just don't think that is possible. So unless this is a keeper league I think you have to make this trade.

TL;DR TRich = Beast, this trade = something you have to do regardless though.

Edit -- Looking at it, I guess Schaub was above average last year for a QB, but my general point is still there. Really surprised someone wants to trade Schaub for TRich though, they must be big time believers in him. Schaub is a top 15 fantasy QB, a definite starter in this league.

Thanks man. I know its a QB league. Everyone in my league went QB crazy (Cutler in the 2nd round :o ) so thats why i decided to get quality in my WR and RB and take the risk at QB with Luck. Its a risk but a risk i was willing to take. Thanks for the input man.

Man you got a steal with Luck that late in a 2 QB league, but you're in bad shape with those weird settings me thinks.

You need 2 QB's in a 2 QB league. Especially one where you only start 1 RB.

I like Richardson a lot, but I think you have to do this trade. By week 5 Schaub will be worth a lot more then Richardson when people see how f***ed they are without one stud QB and a 2nd legitimate NFL real life average starter.

Even if you want to go abstract and fill your 2nd QB slot with a RB, just wait til we're in full swing, Schaub will land you Matt Forte or better easy.

Luck might land you that.

Take this trade.

The Trent Richardson deal for Shaub fell through. Asked for both AJ Green and Trent Richardson. So i just traded AJ Green for Big Ben. That gives me two QBs: one being a solid number 1 in Big Ben and the other being a above average floor with high potential.

POS: NAME (Draft Number)
QB: Andrew Luck (62)
RB: Ray Rice (6)
WR: Larry Fitzgerald (23)
WR: Robert Meacham (79)
WR/TE: Heath Miller (FA)
TE: Fred Davis (90)
QB/RB/WR/TE: Ben Roethlisberger (TRADE)
K: Stephen Janikowski (118)
D: 49ers (107)

Thanks NW7 and Vince for your input. There is no way i could have started the season with one QB. AJ Green is a small price to pay for Big Ben. Now I'm looking to unload Trent Richardson for Reggie Wayne.

I don't love it but I don't hate it.

I think he paid in season price for a preseason move.

Don't trade Trent for Reggie Wayne though, that's insane even if Wayne beasts.

You should be getting an AJ Green for Richardson, at least and especially if you have Hardesty to send with him for that person's worst bench player.

It's a QB league now a days and I felt that on average Big Ben would give me more fantasy points than AJ Green would. I still have Fitzgerald as my number one WR. Plus the Bengals schedule is tough. I don't see Green breaking out just yet.

Been trying to swing a Richardson deal for an Elite WR2.

Guy that has R White isn't willing to trade. My choices are Hakeem Nicks or Miles Austin. The latter being the original offer. I'm pushing for Nicks. when ate you drafting Vince?

Oh man get Nicks. He should beast this year. Austin has bad hammy again too.

We're drafting for the Nets Board FFL tomorrow night.

I picked up a $20 Yahoo Pro League today. Didn't love the way my draft turned out.

Still have another $50 money league I'm drafting in about a week and possibly one more $50 one as well.

4-5 leagues!? Oh man i feel after two it gets to murky and keeping track of players is hard. Good luck bro.

Yeah I'll push for Nicks but i think I can settle for Miles Austin. I won't use Trent Richardson. Unless I hold him and he beasts for two weeks then ship him off for a number 1 wr to pair with Fitzgerald lol.

LOL, dude I'm in too deep this year, even for me.

I have my $50 IRL friends league, the $20 Yahoo Pro league, I'm going to grab a 3rd money league either online through League Safe for $50 or so, or I might even bite the bullet and do a $100 Yahoo Pro league.

So that's 3 money leagues with the outside chance I get really bored one night and sign up for another league if anything is available last minute on Roto or Yahoo in the league finder services through League Safe.

Then I have the RealGM for fun league, a Twitter for fun league with heads all from NetsDaily and 1 other long running fun league I got into through a guy I worked with 5 years ago.

So yeah lol, 3 fun leagues, 3 money leagues and the chance I pick up a 4th money league lol.

Jebus!

Thats too much. Hahaah makes me feel like Fantasy Football might be as fun with 7 leagues. I have one league for fun and one for some money and thats enough for me. You'll litterally be cheering for every team and lose track of who you're actually cheering for hahaah. Good luck though.
