Kevin Jones on PUP-available game 7...drop or keep him?

Post#1 » by Shady Franchise » Fri Aug 31, 2007 8:47 pm

Should I even bother putting him on my IR...I have one spot on my roster for an IR player. Is he going to do anything fantasy wise this year when/if he comes back in week 7? Advise needed please.

Can you put him on IR and free up a roster spot or not? If you can put him on IR and pick up another player then I say hang on to him. I still think he will get his starting job back when he returns unless Bell puts up some awesome numbers in the first 5 weeks. We all know Jones is a very good RB when healthy and puts up some solid fantasy numbers, but we all have to question whether or not he'll ever be 100 percent this season. So advice is to hang onto him and get someone to fill in until he comes back if you can use the IR spot, otherwise maybe drop him if you have holes at other positions that need to be filled.

ya I have one IR spot and 6 reserve spots. I was planning on putting LJ smith on the IR to free up some room on my reserves for when I need a bye QB, DST, Kicker, etc. I was also thinking of trading one of my WR's for a RB3......what do you think?

my team is (10 team H2H) start: 1qb,2RB,3WR,1TE...

palmer

shaun alexander
benson
jamal lewis
jones

TJ Housh
reggie brown
galloway
braylon edwards
santonio holmes
greg jennings

Randy mcmichael
LJ smith

Akers

Bears DST

Is LJ Smith injured? Sorry I haven't followed the Eagles too much this preseason so forgive me for not knowing whats going on with him. You have 2 decent TE's though I think I would go with Smith if/when he's healthy.

If you can land a more solid 3rd RB then go ahead, I'm not to excited about what Lewis or Benson will do on their respective teams. They should both be solid backs, but Benson is young and Lewis hasn't been very consistent the past couple seasons. So I guess I would make a deal if I feel it could improve my team in a weak area, otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about trying to make any major moves. I just try to deal with 'bye' weeks as they come.

LJ is supposed to start the season last I heard, but hasnt played in any preseason games so I picked up Mcmichael for insurance reasons. If LJ is healthy then I'll stick with him, but until then I gotta go with 2 TE's

Yes, if you were uncertain of Smith going into the season I would carry McMichaels for inusrance purposes as well until you know how Smith is going to come out and play. Either way your team doesn't look too bad, you can watch the waivers or make a trade, see if a deal can fall in your lap, it usually happens in fantasy football that you can get a difference maker within' a few weeks. A couple seasons ago before anyone knew Larry Johnson was going to step in for Holmes, I picked up Johnson and left him on the bench, by mid-season I was riding Alexander and Johnson to a championship. Not that luck like that falls in your lap all the time, but you can always hope to have some good fortune to make a huge difference in your season.

Well he was on the PUP list but he was removed today. This is good news for Lions fans as well as fantasy owners who were hoping for a solid number 2 or 3 RB. He would have to be bottom tier 2 until we see how he comes back from this injury, but if he gets his starting job back and comes out looking strong he is a solid number 2 option. So good job holding onto him, hope he works out for you.
