week 1 who to start?

I was wondering if a MOD can make a sticky each week for starter advice? If not its ok, just thought maybe having a thread like the trade one may help with organization because I'll have questions probably almost every week

Anyways, for week 1 these are my questions...

jamal lewis hosting PIT or bensen @ SD? My other starter is Alexander

At first I was 100% bensen, but SD has a top rush DST

Galloway @ SEA, Braylon Edwards hosting PIT, or Santonio Holmes @ CLE as my WR3?

I'm thinking Galloway?!?!?!

Comments? Thanks!

I would go with Benson and Edwards.

I'd go Benson and Holmes- I think Holmes will have big numbers this year.

I agree with above poster (Benson & Holmes)

I need to start 2 out of 3 of these RBs:

Shaun Alexander vs. Tampa Bay
Brian Westbrook vs. Green Bay
Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Tennessee

Also, for my 3rd WR:
Randy Moss vs. NYJ (Questionable)
Calvin Johnson vs. Oakland
Mark Clayton vs. Cin

With Moss' hamstring, CJ might be the best, but he seems high risk / medium reward.

No question I would go with Alexander and Westbrook. As for reciever I think people need to wait and see with Randy Moss. If he's a 100% I don't think he's even a starter in NWE yet. So go with Calvin Johnson, that team loves to pass so he should get something for you.

I'd say Alexander, Westbrook; Johnson, Clayton.

I need advice myself. Who to start Carson Palmer or Matt Leinart. Leinart is going up against the weak 49er defense. Palmer is the better player but going up against maybe the best defense in the NFL. Who should I start. Right now I'm leaning Leinart.

Take Palmer; he'll probably end up throwing more against the Ravens if the Bengals are down early.

Leinart would be the easy pick for me. Going up against a weak defense and he's got a lot of weapons. Seems like a great matchup to me.

Question about which WR to play. I have to play three - S. Smith (vs Rams) for sure will play - then I have: R. Curry (vs. lions) J. Cotchery (vs. pats) or Calvin Johnson (vs Radiers). It basically which two of those three to play. I also have Brandon Marshall, but his spot on the bench is secure.

I'd go Cotchery and Marshall to be honest.

The Pats historically have problems/an indifference to second receivers, so Cotchery may be a good choice. The Lions secondary is monumentally awful but Curry is kind of an iffy receiver to begin with so I'd pencil him in as #2.

Yeah that's a good point BBJ, I just don't like Curry at all this season or really any season.

This question will sound stupid but:

Who should I start?

Bernard Berrian vs. Bolts D

or

Randy Moss vs. Bill Belichick

I really have no clue what is happening with Moss and Berrian might not even touch the ball because Rex will be on his ass all day.

What should I do?

The rumor is Moss may only see a few series against the Jets. Better to stick with the guy who's definite to start.

So yea, basic gist of scoring: 6 pts for TD, 3 for 121 yards and an extra pt. for every 30 yards after.

Start Rudi (vs. Ravens) or Deuce (vs. Colts). Our other back is Maroney.

Start Vincent Jackson (vs. Bears) or Devery Henderson (vs. Colts). Our other receivers are Lee Evans and Deion Branch.

Rudi and Vincent are our starters (Rudi was our first pick), but guys like Deuce and Devery have very favorable match-ups in a game that looks to be a high scoring affair.

deuce VS colts for sure....

Deuce McAllister, RB, New Orleans: It's the first game of the season, so why not make McAllister the first Start of the Week? He should be salivating at this matchup. The Colts were the worst run defense in 2006, allowing 173 yards a game and 20 total touchdowns. Last year, McAllister rushed for 1,057 yards and 10 touchdowns. And since the Saints play indoors, McAlister gets to run on the same surface at the RCA Dome. Why does that matter? Because last year, in eight games indoors, McAllister had 574 yards rushing and four touchdowns. He also had 554 yards rushing and eight touchdowns on the road in 2006. All that adds up to a big game Thursday night.

Sit Rudi...

Rudi Johnson (vs. BAL): Strictly a bad matchup, the Ravens were No. 2 in run defense last year, allowing just 76 yards per game and five total touchdowns. Johnson had 125 yards and a touchdown in two games against Baltimore last year
