I'm in the first year of a 12 team league with three idp players. you get one point for tackle two for sack 2 for int .5 for pd. I have Shawne Merriman, Champ Bailey and Demarcus Ware. I'm think of dropping Merriman to the waiver wire and picking up Mario Williams, or Julian Peterson.
Thoughts? I know he's likely going to be fired up for the game, but Brady gets rid of it pretty quickly. I also wonder if he didn't loose the "edge" he had last year.

Merriman, although he's the designated rusher in that Defense, he's still a linebacker. And Tackles are more plentiful than Sacks.

If you can find a guy who gathers high tackles and maybe a couple of sacks here and there, pick him up instead (It'll probably be a MLB or a SS)

Bad move picking Merriman, or bad move to drop him and pick up Williams or Peterson?

To drop him to pick up Williams or Peterson.

Williams won't get as much tackles.

Peterson won't get as much sacks.

I think Merriman could get as much tackles as Peterson and as much sacks as Mario.

If you are looking for high tackles avoid 3-4 linebacker. MLB in 4-3 get a lot, a la DeMeco Ryans.
