RB/TE Swap (Please Help)

Post#1 » by 93 Phillies » Fri Aug 29, 2008 3:28 pm

It’s a ten team league with standard scoring and I look like this:

QB: Carson Palmer
RB: Marshawn Lynch
RB: Marion Barber
WR: Roy Williams
WR: Brandon Marshall
Flex: Ronnie Brown
TE: Dallas Clark
DEF: Pittsburgh Steelers
K: Shayne Graham
Bench: Earnest Graham, Joey Galloway, Donald Driver, Javon Walker, Aaron Rodgers, Limas Sweed, Brodie Croyle

Someone has proposed to me the following trade:

Brian Westbrook, Ryan Grant, and Todd Heap
for
Marshawn Lynch, Marion Barber, and Dallas Clark

What should I do?

Man, that's a toughie. On first glance I'd say any team getting Westbrook is the clear winner but...I don't know. I'm not the biggest Lynch fan (for fantasy purposes) in the world, but it looks like you're giving up two very good backs for one good and one great back.

The ends are a wash unless it's a PPR league in which I'd rather have Clark now that Heap no longer has Captain Checkdown throwing to him.

You need a QB more than you need Ryan Grant. Who does he have?

they must really want dallas clark, rightfully so i think he's going to be a top tightend this year

and i think ryan grant is going to be good as well, and westbrook is always good, and heap isn't bad

westbrook is an upgrade from the rb's you already have and grant is fairly close to them, if not on the same level, so i think if you wanted to pull the trigger i would be a good move

if your not a fan of heap, maybe you could swing another trade with one of your wr's

also- you seem to be thin on rb depth

In general, I think Lynch was underrated for fantasy by most people this year and Westbrook has been overrated (I've seen lots of people suggest him at 2. Seriously?). I'd look at that as a push. I like Clark better than Heap, but TE isn't enough to sway this trade. The question is whether you think Grant or Barber is going to have the better fantasy season. Barber is safer, but if GB decides their only chance at a division title is to give the ball to Grant thirty times a game, this is a trade you ought to make.

westbrook had amazing stats last year, if someone is really opposed to taking AP second, there isn't anything wrong with westbrook there

Im not an expert and I am a Bears fan....

However, I think Grant is a 1 year wonder. I think he was helped by Farve and will be exposed now that Rodgers is the QB. Plus teams have had a year to understand his tendency's. I wouldn't do that trade. To me your team looks fine.

That's a terrible deal IMO.

Unless you score receptions, Westbrook isn't that much better a gamble than Lynch / Barber whereas Grant is a much larger drop off from those two most likely.

Clark is also above Heap, but I wouldn't expect anywhere near last year's production from him.
