Week 4 Start/Sit

Post#1 » by Wasp » Wed Sep 30, 2009 10:04 pm

Figured I'd get the ball rolling:

Aaron Rodgers vs. MIN or Carson Palmer vs. CLE?

I can only start 1 QB.

Oh wow, that's a good one. I'd go with Palmer though. Cleveland looks like a complete disaster. I'd expect significant breakdowns on both sides of the ball. I picked up CIN D this week for the same reason.

Here's one I have - Johhny Knox (CHI) vs DET or Pierre Garcon (IND) vs SEA?

I'd go with Knox - SEA has a great pass D and DET is a poor defensive squad (don't let the WSH game fool you, WSH is a mess offensively). However, if you have a lot of streaky WR's that you start I'd go with Garcon for the steady yardage points even though Knox has a higher ceiling.

Knox vs Mason (will have to drop Knox)
Winslow or Olsen (will have to drop Winslow)

I think this is obvious, but because one is a top QB, I have to ask: Rivers @ PIT or Cutler v. DET.

That's a tough one because as much as I hate Cutler he's done pretty well and I think he will have a better day against crappy DET than Rivers will against PITT(I have Rivers too btw, I just traded Romo and Gore for him and Jacobs).

I don't know who I should start at RB out of Sproles vs PITT, Taylor vs BAL or Tashard Choice vs DEN. As of now I am going with Jacobs vs KC and Choice, but Sproles is hard to bench even if it's against PITT. Obviously Taylor going up against BAL doesn't intrigue me at all.

I've also got Bradshaw but since I have Jacobs now I figure him and Choice is my best option this week.

Any other opinions on Palmer vs. CLE or Rodgers vs. MIN? I've been racking my brain over this all week, it's so hard to bench Rodgers as he's been fantastic this year but MIN has a great pass D and those two teams tend to grind it out vs. each other.

Palmer on the other hand is playing a weaker CLE team, but I'm afraid they'll be up by 2 scores for most of the game and stop airing it out.

Any other opinions guys?

Coming from a Packers fan I would say go with Palmer this week. Wasn't it two years ago that Cle vs Cin had that game where each team put up over 50 pts? With Anderson starting this week in Cle it could turn into another shootout.
ETA: Not saying Rodgers isn't going to have a huge game though!

I need help on my receivers. S. Smith and DJAX both on bye week. TE counts as a WR and I need to start 3.

D. Hester (for sure start)
C. Henry
B. Edwards
V. Davis
D. Henderson

I'd go with Henry and Edwards if you truly believe that the CLE/CIN game will be a shootout. Jets D have been amazing vs. pass so I'd steer clear of Henderson. I'd be worried starting a TE instead of a WR.

SJax vs. 49'ers (underrated D) or Moreno vs. DAL?

I'd have to go with Moreno since I am also starting him as well as the 9ers D this week. Although, SJAX is always going get his yards.

I was leaning more toward Davis over Henry this week because of how terreble STL has been. Plus with Gore out Davis might be featured more.

I'd go Hester, B. Edwards, V. Davis. They are main pieces to the offense of their teams.
As for the RB's I'm leaning towards SJ because moreno still gives up touches/td's to Buckhalter. SJ gets his touches/yards and eventually his TD's.

Here's one for you guys:

Roddy White is on a bye and Bowe may be out so who to fill in as the third WR with AJ and Hester??

Edelman vs NYJ
M Bradley or B Wade vs NYG
Bryant Johnson @ chi
Nate Washington @ Jax
Earl Bennet vs Det

PPR league, bonuses at 100 and 150 yards.
I need to start 3 out of these 4:
Colston vs. Jets
OchcoCinco @ Browns
Calvin Johnson @ Bears
Steve Smith(NYG) @ Chiefs

I think I definitely start Megatron, but after that it's fuzzy. Colston's matchup is terrible, but he's such a beast.

Help!

I also have another tough one.

Pick one:
Moreno vs. Dallas
Kevin Smith @ Chicago
Clinton Portis vs. Tampa

All really good matchups for the most part.

Damn, my season depends on this week...

I'd sit Ochocino out of your WRs. Cleveland is awful, but after a couple Qs of Cinci running up the score (and those TDs could go to anyone), it's going to be a Ced Benson fest. I know the Jets defense is good, but all it takes is one blown coverage scheme and Colston goes for 70 yds, and all of a sudden 100 is in sight.

As for your RBs, I'd go Moreno. Dallas can't really stop the run. Stafford may have to throw a lot and Portis looks done.

Moreno vs Dal
McGahee @ NE
Bradshaw (probable) @ KC

Which two do I play? McGahee has been a fantasy force so far, but I suspect he will have some dud weeks, as he is not the feature back, and has been lucky to get in the endzone as many times as he has so far. Playing in a tough game against NE could be good or bad. It might be a grind it out game on the ground, but I can really see NE step it up and stuff the run.

Bradshaw has a great chance to have a big week, and as long as he's healthy, he has big game potential against the KC defense.

Moreno is finally healthy, and people say Dal can't stop the run, but they don't seem that horrible to me.

Im really thinking about sitting Willis this week and going with Moreno and Bradshaw. Thoughts?

You probably can't go wrong there. Keep in mind that Bradshaw is the backup to Jacobs though.

Okay, once again Ray Rice against NE or Leon Washington against NO?

I like Ray Rice.

Pick 2 PPR

Bush @ Jet, Slaton @ Oak, and Moreno @ Dallas

Im thinking slaton for sure and im not sure about the other back. Moreno hasnt done squat this year so I worry about starting him...the Jets allow a lot of rec yards to backs and TE's

Bush is at home, FYI.

In any case, I'd go Slaton and Moreno. Thomas is going to get most of the carries this week. I suppose if NYJ manages to keep the game close, they might work Bush in there more on passing downs, but I'm not sure I'd want to bank on that with two other good options.

OK, here's a doozy. Between injuries and byes, I have to decide which 5 of these 6 to start (2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 flex):
LT @ PIT (probable)
Bradshaw @ KC (probable)
Buckhalter v. Dallas
H. Ward v. SD
Walter v. OAK
Bowe v. NYG (questionable)

I think Bowe gets the sit, since Webster shuts down everyone and his injury status makes this tricky. It's a rough week -- Turner and S. Smith (CAR) have byes and I decided to wait on A. Gonzalez, so my bench is fricking thin. Now, I can try to pilfer the waiver wire for guys who might the call this week (Mendenhall, Moore, Betts) or OK WRs (Knox, Bennett, Evans, Washington, Henderson, Gage), but I'd say Buckhalter is the only guy I can drop and I plan on starting him this week so I'm still faced with the same question of who to start.
