Trade Help - Moreno for Manningham

Post#1 » by Wasp » Wed Oct 7, 2009 4:32 pm

I need help at WR and my league is NOT trade friendly. I have a deal on the table right now: MORENO for MANNINGHAM. In my league, I start 2 RB's and 3 WR's, no flex. On my bench, I like to keep 1 QB, 1 RB, 2 WR, 1 flex spot.

Current Squad:
WR's: Knox, Braylon Edwards, Welker, Kenny Britt, Anthony Gonzalez (injured)
RB's: Slaton, SJax, Moreno, Sproles

Squad After Trade:
WR's: Knox, Edwards, Welker, Manningham, Britt, Gonzalez
RB's: Slaton, SJax, Sproles

Should I do it?

I don't like it. I think Manningham was more of a fad.
Is he even better then anything on your roster already?
Steve Smith is the real deal and Nicks is gonna play into the scene heavy as well.
Hold out, Moreno has already put up a small string of 2 good games and I fully expect him to continue to improve and become similar to this year's Forte or Slaton.
If you trade Moreno, you better be getting at least a stud WR2.

Manningham has been putting up solid No. 2 WR numbers all year. He's 15th in Receptions, 9th in ReYd's, 7th in ReTD and 14th in Targets. This is also with a down week last week.

The thing is, Moreno isn't helping me because he'll rarely make it into my starting lineup. Instead of having him rotting on the bench scoring 8-9 pts while my WR's put up 3 and 4's, I'm going to flip him for someone who can actually win me some matchups.

P.S., it's too late for me to retract the trade anyway, but for some reason I've had 3 objections to the trade so far :o I think it's because the guy I'm trading with is a loudmouth on the league message boards.

You should've sat on Moreno for one more week. Buckhalter is out this week and Moreno will get the lion's share of the workload, likely leading to some pretty good numbers. That would've inflated his value enough for you to get a better #2 guy than Manningham who will continue to fall off a bit as Nicks returns to the lineup.

I thought I could've backed out of the trade before posting this but then I realized I was locked in, sorry guys.

In retrospect perhaps I shouldn't have made this trade, but what's done is done and even if I end up losing the deal I don't think it'll be that bad for me. Perhaps I should've asked for Desmond Mason instead, but I still think that based on the numbers Manningham will turn out to be a good #2 WR and worth the trade.

Only time will tell I suppose...
