Week 9 Start / Sit

Post#1 » by Wasp » Wed Nov 4, 2009 5:38 pm

It's Wednesday, let's get this started.

Because of the Slaton fiasco and SJax being on a bye, I'm in need of some starting RB advice:

Start 2 of these 3 RB's:
Slaton @ IND
Maroney vs. MIA
Sproles @ NYG

I'm also wondering about Maroney... Turner v. Washington and Bowe @ Jax are no brainers. So, I need 1 RB, 1 WR, and 1 flex out of Maroney (v.MIA), LT (@NYG), Bradshaw (SD), H. Ward (@DEN), Smith1.0 (@NO), Burleson (v.DET), and Collie (v.HOU).

I really can't decide, especially between my WRs -- Ward's been great, the Panthers will be down and throwing, Detroit and Houston are bad pass defenses (and Burleson is getting a ton of looks from Hasselbeck). I'm leaning toward Maroney, Burleson and Smith...

I'm wondering the same thing about Slaton.

Need advice on starting 2 RB:

Slaton @ IND
Barber @ PHI
P Thomas @ CAR
J Charles @ JAC

I think I definitely go with Thomas, but can't decide on the 2nd RB. Barber seems to be coming around, but is playing PHI, and Charles is intriguing because of JAC and from what I read, he can be an effective receiver (I'm in a PPR league, so I would love to start Slaton, but I'm worried about carries).

Slaton and Maroney. Sproles simply doesn't get enough work, so you'd be counting on a big play TD for any substantial points. Slaton will be fine.

LT, Bradshaw and Burleson.

You've got to play Thomas against Carolina's run defense, then probably lean toward Barber at Philly.

The problem with Slaton is he is playing Indy, who has a stingy run D

That's not entirely true. They're 17th in rushing yards allowed per game. They are 9th in terms of fewest fantasy points allowed to RBs, but they're an average rush defense, especially if Sanders is out.

I'm benching Slaton this week for Jamaal Charles. I considered using him in my flex spot but he cost me a win by 2 points last week with his -2 point performance, so screw him.

Anyways, who should I use in my flex spot if not him? I have Crabtree vs TEN, Mason vs CIN, Bradshaw vs SD, Collie vs HOU.

I'm using Knox/Hester/Andre Johnson as my WR's and Ray Rice/Jamaal Charles at RB as of now.

Thoughts? What say you?!

I'm leaning towards Crabtree because TEN is pretty terrible, but Mason also intrigues me.

I would consider benching Hester and starting Crabtree and Mason, plus Hester is nursing a foot/ankle injury

Pick 3 PPR

Fitz @ Chi, Jennings @ TB, Mason @ CIN, Crabtree @ TEN

Pick 2 PPR

Moreno @ PIT, Bush vs. CAR, Slaton @ IND, Cadillac vs GB

Fitz must start, Jennings must start vs TB, Crabtree must start vs TEN.
Remember how guys like Welker, Moss, and Collie did against Tennessee?

Slaton (will probably be the third down back, which means more receptions)
Moreno- Moreno gets the yards while bush is a bust usually if he doesnt get a TD, and Green Bay has done well against the run

Pick one:
Forte vs ARI
Ryan Grant @ TB

Rivers @ NYG
Shaub @ IND

VC4Prez,

Id go with Forte,Kevin Smith and Beanie Wells. Charles is also a viable option if you don't like Beanie Wells.

I've got a must win for wk9...

I'm starting Gore but need to pick the right RB2. Bradshaw or HighTower...Im leaning toward Bradshaw at home.

Which WR3...Collie, Lance Moore or Malcolm Floyd? I've got Roddy White and Randy Moss
Last one,Which Defense would you start Baltimore@Cincy or undefeated Colts vs Texans?

I'd go Bradshaw. The Chargers can't stop the run and Eli is struggling so look for them to pound the ball. The WR slot is tough but I'd go Collie by a bit over Floyd. Both have nice match ups but I want to see what Floyd is going to do with his increased role before starting him. For D, I'd go Baltimore. The Colts D is solid, but with Schaub on the other side there's a chance it could be a shootout.

LT and Collie are no longer on my roster -- traded them for Thomas Jones (I have Greene on the bench as well). I also got Coles in the trade, but I'm probably dropping him to stash Shiancoe. So, 1 RB, 1 WR, and 1 flex out of Maroney (v.MIA), Bradshaw (SD), H. Ward (@DEN), Smith1.0 (@NO), and Burleson (v.DET).

Johnson and Ryan Grant.
I don't think you could go wrong on the QB, but I might opt Rivers, then again, Indy's defense and especially secondary is real banged up.

So I am having second thoughts on benching Slaton today. I know he won't be starting, but I just don't have much faith in Jamaal Charles or KC, and I think Slaton can bounce back with a solid game today. I expect him to be used more in the passing game on 3rd downs and such(with Owen out now), but my league is not PPR so...

I might just go with Charles and hope he doesn't let me down. Slaton really screwed me last week so as much as I love him, being a Texans fan, I just don't trust him that much.

Ugh.
