You have to have an even amount of teams in each league so that they can play every day. If you have 15 teams in a league, at least one team will have to have an off day every day (or for a whole series). It pretty much makes for a scheduling mess.

Thank you. We have been over this every time that re-alignment comes up. You need an even amount of teams because either you have EXTREME difficulty coming up with mutual off-days for rain-outs or simply the stagger off-days so that a series ends every single day. Either that or we have an interleague series every week and that's just silly. You want to realign to help geography, that's cool but you need even number of teams. mahalo

Even though re-alignment is a flawed concept if it were to be done why not move 1 team instead of two. It would be easier to just move the Astros to the AL west than have them move to the NL west than have the padres move to the AL west.

If any team moves it would prolly be the Rangers. 30 games a year start at 9:30 local time. Not to mention those are some of the most important games of the season.

You also have the novelty of interleague play wiped out. If both leagues had 15 teams each, you'd have one AL team and one NL team forced to play each other for every series. You have to have an even number of teams in both leagues to avoid that.
