Falcons 2021 Draft: Draft starts at #4
I've said this for months now. I WANT FIELDS! but I wouldn't be upset with Pitts either.
If Fields becomes just as good as Watson and Pitts becomes just as good as Calvin Johnson (with a longer career), you would have to ask yourself, who would u rather have, Watson vs Megatron? Both are great but for me the answer is Watson, I would give the edge to Watson over Megatron. Megatron puts up video game stats but Watson has gotten a few MVP votes the last few years.
I also wouldn't be upset if the Falcons trade down as long as they still end up with Parsons or Farley. I think Parsons could be on the same level as Urlacher and Farley could be just as good as Rod Woodson.
I'm not a fan of Lance, I wouldn't draft him in the top 15, although I know this might not age well especially if Lance becomes another Mahomes.
But If I was the GM, I would just...
-keep #4, draft Fields
-draft a DB and LB in the 2nd and 3rd
-trade Julio to a contender

I don't know if Rhamondre Stevenson or Javonte Williams will be available in the 4th or 5th round, but if they are, i think both guys are the type of power "Iron Head" backs that the new coaching staff loves.

Re: Falcons 2021 Draft: Draft starts at #4
ESPN's Dianna Russini reports that "as of now," Florida TE Kyle Pitts would be the Falcons' selection at No. 4 overall.
Per Russini, the Falcons have "taken calls from just about everyone," but that "there hasn't been an offer good enough to trade back." Russini reports they are "willing to keep listening." This would seem to be the Falcons begging for better offers for a spot that's the highest anyone could move up for on Thursday. Although a special talent, Pitts would be a luxury pick for a roster with massive holes on both sides of the ball.

I think a trade may still be in store. Julio possibly so they can shore up the defense or offensive line.

Falcons Pitts. I give it a "-B". Like i said before. If the Falcons take Fields, I would have given it an "+A".
I'm still not made at the trade, not like the Luka trade, so I'm good with Pitts.
Fields reminds me of CP3 in his draft. CP3 was thought of as a top 2 pick, but during the evaluation process, his stock went down and Marvin's stock went up.

Falcons need to draft one of the Georgia guys, Tyson Campbell or Azeez Ojulari in the 2nd round.
Falcons need to learn to always draft UGA guys in the 2nd and 3rd round, because UGA guys always make good pros.
Hopefully their will be a quality safety in the 3rd or a LB that falls.

The Falcons have the 3rd pick in the 2nd round. Players I like are:
Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State
Azeez Ojulari, Edge, Georgia
Asante Samuel Jr., CB, Florida State
Jenkins is probably the best offensive lineman left in the draft. The Georgia kid was a under performer but the physical tools are there. Samuel was inconsistent but he has the tool set to be a everyday starter.
Wyatt Davis from Ohio State is a sleeper offensive lineman. 2020 was injury plagued but his 2019 season had 1st round talent written all over it.

Horrible 2nd round like always for the Falcons.
Falcons pass up on a UGA guy again!!! in Azeez Ojulari, who like all UGA guys in the 2nd and 3rd round will just end up being another pro bowler, 2-3years down the line
Falcons still need to draft more defensive players, but hopefully they can get RB Rhamondre Stevenson, in the 4th round.

Was curious what you thought before I scrolled down to see this response from you. Mainly since we passed on Azeez Ojulari for Richie Grant.atlantabbq99 wrote:Horrible 2nd round like always for the Falcons.

Pitts was good, but every other pick was horrible.
Besides Freeman, there is a reason why the Falcons cannot find a pro bowler in the 2nd and 3rd round, and that is because they always fail to see the obvious pick.
I would have taken...
Azeez Ojulari
Divine Deablo
Jabril Cox
Rhamondre Stevenson
Richard LeCounte
Deonte Brown
Stone Forsythe

Re: Falcons 2021 Draft: Draft starts at #4
I think the Falcons did a great job...
Not passing on a generational type talent in Pitts is solid. 5 years from now Pitts can be catching balls from the newest QB in Atlanta. I think they chased enough on defense to improve in that area. I like Grant and Hall a lot. Defensive line was a weak spot in this draft but they still drafted Graham and Ogundeji. Keeping Matt Ryan upright with two offensive lineman had to be a priority also.
I can see the difference between this draft and past Dimitroff drafts. There were not any shocking reaches in this one. In the past it seemed like they were taking 4th/5th round picks in the 2nd/3rd round. Plus trading up to get them. The last three picks were great examples in that they were not unknown talents. Dimitroff was famous for his draft day curve balls. Every player picked by Fontenot was a known quantity with possible upside.
Obvious great pick: TE Pitts
Solid picks who should start this season: S Grant, OL Mayfield
Sleepers who could start: OL Dalman, CB Hall, DL Graham
Late picks: Edge Ogundeji, CB/Return Specialist Williams, WR Darby
Atlanta hit most of their needs; yet drafted two players in Pitts and Darby which are position of strengths. They added protection for Ryan; and the lineman should also help bolster a poor running game.
I am thrilled with the defensive additions as the Falcons were one of the weakest in the league last season. I think they were dead last in yards allowed passing. Which would explain the two corners and one safety drafted.
Two positions they did not account for are running back and backup quarterback. I do think the defense and keeping Matt Ryan upright should be the higher priority. With Julio Jones being asked about and Hayden Hurst a high quality extra tight end, there are some potential trades that could be made.

I hope you are right. I think Fields will be the next Lamar and Watson, so that might hurt when he gets in the MVP conversation a few years down the line, but I can't be upset with Pitts as he will have a +100 TD career.
Maybe Grant and Mayfield will end up being pro bowlers, and make me look bad.
I beleive you should always draft guys who fell with your 1st and 2nd pick, then draft for need with your 3rd, 4th, 5th picks.
I agree the Falcons could have used a late round RB like Rhamondre Stevenson. He could have been a really good power back in the new offense.
As for trades, I think you're right. I think Falcons are 50-50 on a Julio trade. Lets see if the Packers get desperate and shows interest for Julio in the next few weeks.

I still don't know why the Falcons passed on Rhamondre Stevenson, when he is obviously the perfect RB for Arthur Smith's offense.
Rhamondre Stevenson is going to be 2021 version of Chubb or Terrel Davis.
