No reason to have different threads regarding news unless you find a topic worthy of it.

Let's have a good and productive offseason.

Falcons hired Titans OC Arthur Smith as head coach.

39 in May, Smith was a rapid riser in the coaching ranks and just wrapped up his second season as the Titans’ offensive play-caller. He worked absolute wonders with Ryan Tannehill, putting his career back on track after it looked like it was lost in Miami. Derrick Henry also became a monster under Smith and rushed for over 2,000 yards this season. A.J. Brown, Corey Davis, and Jonnu Smith were also budding stars in Tennessee. It’s an exciting hire for Atlanta, and Smith should call his own plays, working with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Calvin Ridley. It will keep the Falcons’ offense in high regard in the fantasy community.

Sounds good.
An OC as a Coach is what we needed.

News out of Houston is well, it co tinues, Watson wants out. If we really wanted to just turn our back on Matt Ryan we more than likely could pursue Watson and acquire him.

Below is this mornings news.

_________________________________________

A source close to Deshaun Watson told SI.com that Watson "just wants out” of the Texans.

This comes after Watson tweeted his frustrations with the Texans' front office. Watson has a fractured relationship with EVP Jack Easterby and reportedly considers owner Cal McNair’s remarks regarding their relationship "patronizing." The Texans didn't consult Watson before hiring GM Nick Caserio and failed to interview Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy, who Watson recommended, during the Wild Card round. The Texans may have to pick between keeping Watson and firing Easterby this offseason.

My close Atlanta friends that consist of around eight Atlantans prefer a rebuild and to draft Justin Fields. I prefer to not have a complete rebuild. The same people called me negative when I spoke poorly about Georgia football with the way they handled Fields and how they stayed loyal to Fromm. I had watched Fields playnsince his junior season in high school.

Side note: Fields hung out with former Braves Brad Clontz and Chipper Jones a few days ago.

I'd like for us to pursue Watson and fill in the holes.

The Falcons hired former Saints vice president and assistant general manager Terry Fontenot as the team's new general manager.

Fontenot, who spent the past 18 years with the Saints and just finished his first season as the team's vice president/assistant general manager for pro personnel, will take over as Atlanta's GM after interviewing with several teams, including the Lions and Jaguars. Fontenot will play an outsized role in determining the Falcons' future at quarterback with Matt Ryan, 36 in May, entering what will likely be his final years in the league.

Ex-Ravens and Titans DC Dean Pees is expected to un-retire and serve in the same capacity for new Falcons coach Arthur Smith.

Falcons hired Bears passing-game coordinator Dave Ragone as offensive coordinator.

It's not a splashy hire, but that was probably to be expected with new coach Arthur Smith serving as his own play-caller. With the Bears since 2016, Ragone served as Matt Nagy's passing-game coordinator in 2020. It wasn't much of a passing game with the Bears toggling back and forth between Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles, though Trubisky had a few good games down the stretch. 41-year-old Ragone's primary function will be to serve as a sounding board for his new boss. Ragone and Smith coached together in Tennessee from 2011-13.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said Deshaun Watson requested a trade before the team hired David Culley as their head coach.

Rapoport said Watson's trade request came last week, though it became public on Wednesday via a tweet from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Watson's relationship with the organization was irreparably damaged when he was not consulted on the hiring of new general manager Nick Caserio. He reportedly found out about the hire the same way we did: on Twitter. Watson, 25, is now in control of where he'll play in 2021, with Robert Saleh's Jets emerging as the front runner. If the Texans play hardball with Watson, they can fine him $95,877 for missing minicamp and $50,000 for each day of training camp he misses. Probably it won't come to that.

Falcons hired T.J. Yates as pass-game coordinator.

Yates spent that last two years with the Texans as an offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach. With new HC David Culley bringing in his own staff, he'll resurface with the Falcons, who Yates played for in 2014. Falcons coach Arthur Smith will call his own plays, but Yates will work closely with Smith and OC Dave Ragone.

I don't know how true the Seahawks rumors are.

But how about ...

Ryan and a 3rd round pick for Russel Wilson?

I haven't heard the rumors.
Matt Ryan is only three years older than Wilson but I would assume Seattle would expect more value that your proposal.

NFL:

Falcons cut DB Allen, DE Bailey to clear $10.75M

The Falcons have to clear a lot of veterans to get under the salary cap this offseason, and Allen was one of the projected casualties. A corner turned safety, Allen played six seasons in Atlanta, maxing out as an average starter. The 29-year-old is best viewed as a versatile backup or low-end starter as he heads out of the prime of his career. Allen has vastly out-performed his 2014 fifth-round draft capital.
