Q: What long-term interests do you have aside from being a tight end in the NFL?
Blakley: Eventually, when I'm done playing, I'd like to be involved in the educational system, whether that's as a teacher or a coach or both. I think nowadays a lot of kids really miss out on things like structure and that foundation that it takes to succeed, so I'd like to venture into those avenues that give me a chance to help.
Q: Where does that passion for that from?
Blakley: My mother was a teacher in the St. Joseph (Mo.) school district for over 20 years. She's now a professor at the University of Missouri. Seven or eight of my uncles and relatives are teachers, principals, vice principals, etc., so one way or another it seems like we've all found our way into the educational field. It's a legacy I'm very proud of.
