Trading Matt Shaub tops list of regrets

Five things in the rearview mirror after Week 2's Sunday games.
# 1. The Falcons trading Matt Schaub. Before this offseason, Schaub was seen as the most important backup in the league because of the beating Michael Vick took as a running quarterback. But the Falcons eventually decided Schaub's trade value was too much to ignore and sent him to Houston, where he is thriving. Schaub not only would have helped the Falcons without Vick, he also would have given them a long-term solution instead of Joey Harrington -- a short-term problem.

How about we wait until we see who we get with that 2008 second rounder from them and also how good of a lineman Blalock becomes. People who say that Atlanta is going to look like idiots because they traded Schaub aren't looking at the whole picture. We moved up to get a solid defensive lineman who may not be there and got two picks out of the deal also. Would Schaub be any more effective behind our horrible line, minus Blalock?

Justin better develop into a All-Pro and Houston need to develop into a all-pro corner to justify trading Matt away. Texans OL isn't that much better than the Falcons. The difference is Matt is a very good QB and can get rid of the ball quickly. Harrington just sit there with the ball. Falcons OL is horrible and has always been. Vick has been able to cover up their mistakes. Half of those sacks they have given up are on Joey.
Another thing that gets on my nerves is how long it is going to take to get competitive again. Matt was sitting on the bench the last 3 years learning,studying, and developing. He is only 26 and is ready to play. If we get Brohm or Woodson. It is going to take them at least 2 years to develop. Counting this year and the two years it will take. Falcons will have wasted 3 years.

What does Houston have to do with the Schaub trade? We traded our own second rounder plus a later pick with the Vikings to move up to take him. We took Blalock with the pick we got from the Texans.

Houston and Justin are tied into the Schaub trade. Because we got the extra 2nd rounder. It allowed us to get both of them.
