Quarterback Byron Leftwich stood on the sideline in a Falcons uniform for the first time last Sunday, knowing that he wouldn't take a snap unless starter Joey Harrington and backup Chris Redman went down with injuries.
"It was terrible," the former Jacksonville starter said. "It was the first time in my life I'd been in that situation. It was difficult because you're used to being out there."
"I'm at the point where I could function with the offense," Leftwich said. "It was a challenge when I first got here, especially at the time of the season I got here. They don't have the time to bring me along slowly. They threw me right in the fire and I've been able to adapt to it."
