FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons Monday signed cornerback Brent Grimes to the active, 53-man roster and signed defensive end Kevin Huntley to the practice squad.
Grimes, 5-10, 180 pounds, was originally signed by the Falcons as an undrafted rookie free agent last season out of Shippensburg University. He was allocated to the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europa during the NFL offseason and returned to the Falcons to earn a spot on the practice squad following 2007 training camp.
Grimes played 43 games at Shippensburg where he set school records with 38 career passes defensed and 27 interceptions, which was also a conference record.
Huntley, 6-7, 270 pounds, was re-signed to the Falcons practice squad after previously being released on Oct. 9, 2007. He was a member of the Oakland Raiders in 2006 and finished the season with 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
