If Ryan slipped to 17 like Quinn last year, would Atlanta be interested in swapping 34 & 37 for 17?

I doubt it. The pick values are off by 150, and we have some big needs to fill. If the front office is confident they can get Brohm in the 2nd, then I would rather have Brohm and fill another need than take Ryan.

Everything I'm hearing has us targeting both Henne and Flacco, and not Brohm.

I'd rather have Brohm though.

Yeah it looks like a 120 diff in pt value, but that is why I referenced Quinn. Cleve essentially paid Double the point value. For a lineman or rec or something I could see the rationale to break even, but for a future franch qb I think a 100 to 200 overpay is expected.

I feel that we can get a franchise qb in the second with 24. The drop off in qb talent from 1-4 isn't large at all.

We should not trade into a weaker position; especially to get a QB. As others have said, there is no telling which of the top five QB's will be the best and at least three of them will be available in the second round.

We need to take advantage of our strong draft position, not trade our advantage away.

DT looks like the way to go at #3. We also need QB,OL, CB, LB, SS and TE. There will be very highly rated OL available in the second.

#3: Ellis or Dorsey
#33: Brohm, Henne or Flacco
#34: Cherilus or Baker
#48: Collins or Rachal

That takes care of QB, DL and OL, spend the rest of the picks on CB, LB, SS, TE, FS/CB

We also got that 3rd round compensatory pick. (98th pick)

With all the picks we have, a good draft can really turn this franchise around. We have 6 picks in the top 100. We got probably our best defensive player (Boley) in the 5th round. Get some 2nd day picks like that and we'll be set.

I agree totally, at #3 take Dorsey or Ellis. Either of those guys next to Abraham will reak some serious havoc on the defensive front and allow our LBs to run without shedding OL's blocks.

The 2nd round is where it really gets interesting.
The Dolphins look like they could go Henne with their 2nd pick but who knows ?
We definately need a T there. Hopefully a LT but that is hard to project.
Below are possible Ts in the 2nd round:

Baker- 6'4 314 from USC (LT in college)
Nicks- 6'5'' 335 from Nebraska (LT in college and allowed just 1 sack last year)
Collins 6'6'' 315 from Kansas (LT in college)
Cherilus - 6'6'' 313 from Boston College (pure RT)
McGlynn 6'4'' 318 from Pitt (pure RT)

We should take at least 1 if not 2 of those OTs or a bruising G in the 2nd round. A QB in the 2nd round may be wise but if Dimitrioff sees a QB he likes in the later rounds like Woodson or Johnson that is fine by me.

With the first 4 picks I would not mind them being a top DT at #3 and use all three 2nd rounders on OL. Minimum should be 1 DT and 1 T with the first 4 picks. Alot depends on which QBs are available when we pick.
