Falcons rookie quarterback Matt Ryan was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Oakland.
Ryan completed 17-of-22 passes (.773) for 220 yards, two touchdowns and had a 138.4 quarterback rating in a 24-0 Falcons win on Sunday. His two touchdown passes marked his third multiple-touchdown game this season.
Ryan set first-half season highs with 184 passing yards and an 81.3 completion percentage. His final completion percentage of 77.3 is a career-high along with his passer rating of 138.4, which also ranks as the fifth-highest total for a quarterback in the NFL this season.
Ryan was named NFC Rookie of the Month for October after guiding the Falcons to a 2-1 record.
It is the third time this season that a Falcon has won the weekly award. Running back Michael Turner was named conference offensive player of the week following the team’s wins over Detroit and Kansas City.
Ryan and linebacker Curtis Lofton were on the midseason all-rookie team compiled by Gil Brandt of NFL.com and posted on the league’s website Wednesday.
