Albert Haynesworth will become free agent

"The good news for Albert Haynesworth on Tuesday is he made it to the Pro Bowl for the second straight season.

But that's potentially bad news for the Titans, who now might have a harder time keeping the defensive tackle around after this season.

As a result of the honor, Haynesworth is set to become an unrestricted free agent. One of four triggers in the contract Haynesworth signed in July stated if he made it to the Pro Bowl the team would agree not to place the franchise tag on him for the second straight season.

Haynesworth's agent, Chad Speck, said it not the time to discuss the future.

"I am just excited for Albert that he made the Pro Bowl and he is certainly deserving of it,'' Speck said. "Right now I know he is clearly focused on trying to get healthy and making it back for the playoff run. I think the contract stuff will take care of itself at the end of season.''

The Titans declined to comment.

Haynesworth suffered an MCL sprain Sunday and will miss the final two games of the regular season. He is expected back for the playoffs. Haynesworth has a team-high 8.5 sacks and 75 tackles.

The Titans would like to sign Haynesworth to a long-term deal. They can negotiate with him exclusively until Feb. 27 when he'd be free to talk to other teams.

In recent months the Titans and Haynesworth's agent have not been in negotiations, and aren't supposed to engage in talks until the regular season ends."

Any chance we pursue him?

I would hope so. He is a beast. He can stop the run and rush the qb from a dt spot.

I wonder if this is Grady's last year.

After this year's success I can see Arthur Blank willing to be active in the free agent market for sure though.

We should try to get the best DT available in the draft. Don't sign the big $ FA unless you have to.

But, if we got Haynesworth, we could draft a SS, a CB, a TE, an OLB and an OL.

We would be increadibly solid.
