Like it or not, he's our starting sf. He needs to get adjusted. The team is investing too much in him to do otherwise.

For now. He's not good enough to be a starter in this team. The team investing too much on a player they shouldn't have is a common theme in the Warriors organization the last few seasons. Wiseman, Klay, and now Kuminga.

He might be the 2nd worst defender on the team after Buddy, but without any playmaking or shooting.

I think he'll be better vs the Clippers. They wont try to play as fast. The pace and the style jk wants to play is messing him up on offense. Jk is pushing to keep up with the pace, but he's got only 1 read right now because he wants to be kobe. So, that read is to attack the rim regardless of where anyone is on the floor. He's pushing.

Defensively it hasn't looked great, but it's limited because we are essentially hiding him. Just look at the match ups, steph is chasing guards all over the place right now. Jk is on the least threatening stationary player. Just need steph to hold up.

He just looks really confused right now.

He doesn't need to play as bad as last night, I just don't think he's good enough to start. It was a similar convo about Klay the last 3 years. He's fine to play on the team but on a much more limited role and minutes. The same is true about Kuminga. His BBIQ is not good enough to make the reads at the frantic pace the Warriors play in. In a more isocentric offense, he may do better (and if he plays the 4).

They're either starting him because they want to give it 1 more shot to see if he can make it with the Warriors with a top role, Lacob is forcing Kerr's hands, or they're trying to raise his value before the trade deadline. Noone can make a reasonable argument that he should start over Melton for example. This also forces Wiggins to play out of position.

I don't usually like to sheet on players, but Kuminga was indeed arse today. Playing for himself. Last year he was passing more. This might be the effect of him being in a contract year, and if i'm right is going to be a problem. Mainly for him.

I disagree with you on Lauri. He had 35 the night before. Him with Steph, Melton, Dray and Wiggins turns this team into a top level contender (as good if not better than Celtics IMO). His spacing and size along with the other shooters and off ball movement would have unlocked Lauri.

Not enough for a chip, imo.

Not worth it for all those picks

35 on a bad team is different to 35 on the dubs.

He doesn't need 35 with the Warriors. He needs 20 and Wiggins then needs 15 to have a good offense. The fear of him shooting/getting the ball would have also opened up space for everyone else on the court, including Steph.

I think it will pass and we'll see more of the Kuminga we saw in preseason before long.

I think he's a little stung by the failure to agree on a contract and so he's trying to go out and prove the team wrong. It's not an unhealthy sentiment, he just needs to channel it into all the ways he can positively affect the game beyond scoring.

He and Wiggins had some excellent sequences switching on defense with one another last night and that should only get better.

Kuminga knows that teams aren't lining up to hand out Rookie max extensions to role players, and that could become a problem for us.
