Re: Warriors @ Rockets - Game 2
Dubs need Butler to win -- either Game 3 or the series. But if he sits out Game 3, it's 1-2, just like if the Rockets won the first 2 at home. If he needs to rest it, he should. Playoffs are a marathon, not a sprint. That said, without Jimmy, the Dubs are going nowhere. Too much of a talent imbalance. The Dubs bench just isn't that good without Steph or Jimmy on the floor. So this is the best medical news we could have hoped for -- no major damage.
PS: Did you see Dort took out Ja last night? Another undercut. Silver needs to come down hard -- or the playoffs become Rollerball, except for real.

Dort turned around and slipped during a shot contest..

I seriosuly having hard time understanding this line of thought. yes. he slipped, but:
1) he still tried to contest the play raising his left harm towards morant which he had no business doing considering the dynamic
2) he did nothing to avoid the impact nor he tried to "soften" morant impact on the floor.
also, this whole referring to intentionality and violence like they are the only factors to consider is becoming ludicrous. the main factor to consider should be the outcome of the act, not the intention or the violence of the act itself. a player might act in good faith, but if his unskilfuness, frenziness, negligence, even excessive "passion" ultimately causes harm/injury to another player, he should still be held accountable. slipping doesn't justify undercutting the dunker: if you slip and still try to make a play and as result you undercut the dunker, that's a bad act. period. the intentionality here is irrelevant. you can slip, but that's it. slide down to the ground, why are you still trying to make a play in that situation? the play is over for you, you are off balance, have no proper footing, slide the fu** down.
league need to step in, it's a player responsibility to act in a way the doesn't threat the safety of the other players , this should override any other aspect.

Eh....dope him up with something. As long as it's not structural it's good news.

Re: Warriors @ Rockets - Game 2
I'm hoping the series goes something like the 2022 playoffs with the Grizzlies. The first 2 games were physical, crossing over into violent at times. In game 2, Brooks of course essentially ended GP2's season with a flagrant 2. They went back to the Bay tied 1-1 and in game 3, the refs started clamping down on Memphis' physicality a bit. Steph got (and made) 14 free throws and the Warriors won by 30. In that game 3, after being not much of a factor in game 2, Kuminga replaced GP2 in the starting lineup and scored 18 points in 18 minutes. Although they got blown out again on the road in game 5, the Warriors went on to advance 4-2. Of course the difference is Butler is much more important to them now than GP2 was then. However, it seems he will return at some point, hopefully not missing more than a game.

Both Dort and Thompson committed fouls. Neither player did it intentionally. In the playoffs, players compete harder, give up on plays less, and it leads to these situations. If you are going to say it was intended, then Zaza intended to undercut Kawhi.

GPII was fouled on the play he injured his shoulder but there was no call. I understand letting players play but when a guy gets knocked to the ground so hard he comes up hobbled seems like you might want to call that

If I recall correctly, the NBA redefined stepping under as a flagrant after that play. Didn't do Kawhi any good, but it changed the way that plays like that were officiated from then on.
And BTW -- San Antonio practically invented stepping under. So it was sort of poetic justice at the time. But again, it was another type of play that shouldn't happen.

Yep. It was funny seeing Spurs fans 180 overnight from defending Bowen being absolutely reckless with other players health with that move for years, to then complaining it was super dirty.
