Hey, I'm not negative on Dun... I would love to have him as the Warriors 7th or 8th man, assuming he was paid like one, and he didn't cry about his role.

makes me wonder what kind of dunleavy we would've had if baron were a true point guard, jrich were 2-3 inches taller & more able defensively, and troy murphy or ab could do what a healthy o'neal can do.

is he really a "better" player? i guess what kills me about it is that i don't think he's "improved." i think he's been capable of this stuff for years, just couldn't get the right mix.

i never changed my opinion on dun skill as a player - like most, it's the spineless, no accountability dun that i boo'd that night in oakland. it was worth not having a voice at work on monday.

I don't come to this board often but when I do it is the same thing over and over again. The more things change the more they stay the same. If there is arrogance surrounding Dunleavy it isn't him it is the fans of Golden State.

But I agree, fans are arrogant for expecting more toughness, leadership, and performance, and less complaining, in exchange for the $45 million dollars they are paying for his services.

I totally agree. Mike Jr is humble, owns up to his faults, never complains, and lives up to expectations. His actions on the court are exemplary.

How many Golden State games did you watch when Dunleavy played here? Are you sure you're equipped to comment on how Warrior fans should feel?

Do you really think the fans booing Dun had anything to do Nelson's handling or labeling of him? Thats the most ignorant thing Ive ever heard! I understand that before last seasons playoff run, most people on the East didnt pay attention much to the Warriors, but get your facts straight before you go off insulting a future HOF coach as well as some of the best fans in the league, all in order to complement one of the biggest disappointments in recent draft history.

Dun was here 4 1/2 years and earned his boos. Not only was he inconsistent and unproductive, he barely improved in the time he was here. He was given every chance to succeed under 3 different coaches and with an ever-supporting front office, and with each new opportunity, he not only wasted them, he also whined and complained after.

We got rid of Jamison, partly to give more minutes to Dun. We got rid of Muss, partly because how he had benched Dun and because of their history of disagreements. Brian Cardinal earned his big payday because of how he outplayed Dun from off the bench, but the W's didnt resign him because Dun was given another chance. Dun praised the hiring of Montgomery, saying that he would finally have a coach that would know how to use him, and then Monty ended up benching him too. Dun got a huge contract, but constantly came back from each summer unprepared and unimproved. He would stink it up for long stretches of games, and then after having one or two decent games, would call out the leaders of the team, including calling Baron Davis a "street-baller".

And we hated how he was on the court. He was a 6'9" player trying to take a charge against Earl Boykins, while not being able to postup six foot tall point guards. He was a "pure shooter" who couldnt hit open 3's. He had a high "basketball IQ" but would routinely make dumb plays or passes, and then yell at his teammates right there on the floor, deflecting blame from himself. He complained about not having the ball in his hands, and then stunk it up once we did that. He was a soft, timid, and inconsistent player that made it real obvious that he didnt care what the crowd thought of him, and we are supposed to cheer for that? Hell no, if he would have played in NY like he did here, there would have been "trade Dun" rallies too.

Im sure you have ties to Dun and his dad, but as a reporter you really should get your facts straight and actually research the situation before you go assuming things.

And insult Nelson's playoff record all you want, but last time I checked he has 75 playoff wins compared to Dun Sr's 38, and Dun Jr's 0. And based on current performances, that lead is sure to soon expand.
