You won't get me to shed a tear that he has prioritized that playing for a huge sum of money next season is more important. Life is such a bitch sometimes. There are millions of people that would kill to be in his position.

On her deathbed, Matt's mom told him to go get back on the court. They had her proped up in a portable ICU to watch the 1st game of the season. She freaking asked to be buried in a Warrior jersey for crying out loud.

Maybe Matt's greiving is hurting his play, maybe it's hurting the team, but bashing him for trying to play through this season and then pinning it on greed is about the lowest, dirtyiest, most piece of crap thing anyone has done on this board in a couple of years.

You aren't required to shed any tears for anybody's misfortunes, but it would be considered decent and human to at least have the class to just shut up about it.

This really isn't about dissing Barnes and is definitely not a slur at his loss of his mom. Has nothing to do with it whatsoever. This is just a commentary on his basketball skills and even posted last year. Just as souvlaki stated, I got the idea for this thread while watching the Sonic game. It was right after a play where he'd grabbed the defensive rebound and started pushing it up the court. I noticed that laying behind him was a Sonic player, stretched out on the floor laying uder the basket and thinking to myself, this reminds me of Pietrus and his "Trainwreck" moniker. I said to myself, you know Barnes has some Pietruslike qualities and that's where the idea for this thread came from.

I'm sorry, but when either of those guys are on the court, it's dangerous out there, for our team and the other team. With Pietrus, it's usually by accident (i.e., he's an accident waiting to happen) but with Barnes I have to say I think it's much more deliberate. One way to describe it that Barnes is kinda like a controllable trainwreck whereas Pietrus is more like an uncontrollable one. Barnes is also a "smarter" trainwreck but Petey is a "dumb" trainwreck you could probably say. Pietrus I believe is more talented but dumber, Barnes less talented but smarter. All in all, I really like them both and I am not trying to dis either one of them, I blame Nellie for putting them in at the wrong time a lot which I atrribute to their tendency to screw up on occasion.

As for Barnes tragic loss, it's no different for anyone who loses a loved one, I lost my father back in March of last year and it has been very difficult for me to deal with still, but I shouldn't use that for an excuse to not do a good job. I do not think that this is the cause of some of Barnes bad play (although I'm sure it affected him when she became real ill and then passed away) so I don't think we should be looking at this from a "lack of sensitivity" standpoint, since none of us really know what's going on in each other's personal lives (unless it's shared as in the case of LF). This thread was meant to be a "fun" thread and I'd like to keep at that if possible. Maybe someone should do a thread of "Pietrus Top 10 Bloopers". It would be great if they were captured on Youtube. It would be a blast. This is not to say that Pietrus has no talent, he just has a way of screwing up from time to time.

Peace.

Matt will be all right. When push comes to shove he responds with good play.

I'll take him 10000 times over Pete.

Oh please. I'm sure his mom dying is why he missed three shots in 1.5 seconds the other night. It's just an excuse. If he's having a tough time dealing with his loss then from a personal perspective he should not be playing a GAME. Period. I don't care how you try to spin it.

From a professional perspective if what the poster suggested is actually true then he should recognize that and take time off. So no matter what the case, if his personal issues are interfering with his performance he should not be playing. Otherwise he's just being selfish. We already know he's greedy, so that's established and it shouldn't "shock" you.

BTW, I find this mock indignation one of your funnier posts.

Thank you. We ALL lose people we love. It's part of life. I personally don't think Matt would use that as an excuse for playing poorly, unlike some posters on internet message boards. Fact is, he's been playing poorly all year.

I'm sorry if anyone thinks it's insensitive to point out Barnes is playing like his French bench mate. I mean, unless of course you're arguing that it might hurt Pietrus' feelings.

There's nothing "mock" about this. I found your tasteless inference that Barnes has prioritized money over his mother's memory to be the ugliest thing I've ever read here.

I thought I'd read one more to see if you showed some of the class you accuse Barnes of not having and would make amends. Color me surprised, you fail.

Your comments in this thread say a lot more about your character and values that Matt's.

Enjoy your season and stay classy.

Heh, classy? How classless is it to try and suggest that we should feel sorry for Matt that he's "forced" to play basketball and make millions. Where are your priorities man. Seriously? You want me to feel sorry for him because he just has to play in the NBA? Get grip on reality.

Someone suggested that he's too distraught over his mother to play basketball well. So I responded saying that he shouldn't play the game until he's emotionally recovered. That would be the logical thing that any normal person would do, unless you were motivated by something else. And we've known since last Summer that Matt's driving force this year is to get a nice big contract. So where is the disconnect with you?

All of a sudden because his mother died he's not a greedy player anymore? Heh. That's priceless. That you have your panties in a bunch about it makes it that much more funny.

Regardless of the why -

Barnes is only a hustle player... thats all he is. He's not a great shooter, he's not a great passer or ballhandler, and he's not a great defender. He's not poor at any of those either... He'd be a great asset to have if we didn't need to depend on him every game. Rather have him as a steady 10 MPG player that can earn more time by getting hot and affecting the game... and definitely not @ PF :banghead:

But his hustle is under control a lot of the time... Pietrus is not... Barnes' isnt near Petey's level of boneheadedness. But he's an energy guy that likes make highlight plays when he can (some bad passes and over-enthusiastic rebounding).
