I call em like I see em, popular opinion or not... I dont care whether anyone agrees , just that they understand the message... people like you have to be filtered so people who actually do want to learn about ball can do so... I had to ignore a lot of people the first few months here, and it ignited me about basketball even more so... but the longer this has gone on, the more the patrol has slinked away from legitimate fact and going more on boxscores, circumstance and credibility attacks...

I'm not going to make up stances that you guys have to strengthen an argument... no need... you can win all the arguments here you want Nick, I know usually I just dont even bother anymore..

Takes me back to old high school debate class.. exaggeration should be used as "e ffect" not "a fact"

I'm always surprised about the negativity that Nellie engenders in some. Dallas sure had it against Nellie when he left them... I thought they were being very ungrateful. Maybe time heals the sting... despite the fabulous flameout end to Nellie's earlier stint here, almost everyone was really excited to have him back a year and a half ago. And on the Mil board during the Yi vs. Wright debates, several of those guys thought GS fans were crazy for being down and Nellie, offering to gladly take him off our hands.

Consider this -

The Bucks, Warriors (twice now), and Mavs were both awful teams pre-Nellie. He made them respectable and above average. Wouldn't you think the fanbases would worship the guy?

Unless there was something terribly wrong with the way the guy coached? Just putting it out there... the guys who thought we were crazy probably weren't old enough to see the Bucks of the 80s...

For what it's worth, when Nellie was coaching Milwaukee, Red Auerbach wanted him to come back and coach the Celtics.

Part of that probably had to do with the 1982-1983 postseason, with the Celtics coming off a 56 win season (sandwiched between a couple Championships), and with a roster that included Bird, Parish, and McHale, Nellie's Bucks swept the Celtics out of the playoffs.

Of course no on can say for sure, but I'd bet Nellie could have won a ring or two as a coach with those guys, had he in fact left Milwaukee.
