Veteran Help this year???

Post#1 » by ILOVEIT » Wed Mar 19, 2008 11:26 pm

Wow....Mullin and Nelson have really struck out in the off-season/in-season moves to get older guys to help out....

Webber...out...not likely to help anything....
Hudson...can't believe how bad that turned out...
Croshere...again...missing half the games...has help for about 8 games really all season.

Not there guys are not critical....but we have to give Mulson an F for their efforts to aquire veteran help.

A+ for contract managment....B for managing the draft...F for free agent aquisition/trades.

The two bolded parts are directly related. The Warriors have crappy free agent acquisitions/trades because contract management was the number one priority.

And I think an F is pretty harsh. An F is going out and signing Bobby Simmons and Dan Gadzuric for big money long term deals when you need veteran help. Giving the vets minimum to those guys (CWebb, Cro, and THUD!!!)was a low risk/decent reward type move, and outside of THUD!!!, the grade on those moves is currently incomplete.

Mbenga was a pretty decent back up center we picked up in free agency.

Again, when you limit your player profile to minimum salary and 1 year contracts you don't have a lot of talented guys to choose from.

Nellie and Mully are working with both hands tied behind their back when it comes to free agents. Mullin is probably on restriction until Foyle expires.

Oh, and I am officially against buying out any players ever again. Hold them until they can be traded as expirings. How many trades has Theo Ratliff's contract been involved in now?

Ya I really thought the Warriors should have picked up Pat Burke.

We did sign Burke. We just painted him black first.

I think C.J. Watson was the best FA pickup...even though Monta is showing he can play some PG.

Webber should of never been picked up because the Lakers didn't even pick him up. I would of been happy with DJ Mbenga as well. We need someone with bulk, size and some shotblocking.

Maybe Kosta can be that guy? Our big man that can hustle, rebound and block shots.
