He is right, Monta was better at D his rookie year. That's why I said he has regressed, because he has. I'm just afraid he has picked up too many bad habits the last two years playing with Baron (I think its more Baron's fault as a mentor than Nellie's), and I would like to see him reassert his defensive, evene if it cost a little bit on the offensive side of the ball. he is young and has the stamina to play both sides of the ball imo.

I just don't want to see him forget half the game like he seems to have done for much of this year.

Last time they played, KMart torched him on defense, the exact opposite of the previous time they played prior to that one. Numerous back door jams. A lot of people said it was because of the situation with Monta's brother who had just been shot. Let's see. It's 1-1 going into tonights game.

I acknowledge plenty on Tay... I only even spoke up about it because of how ludicrous it was people were bagging Tay for stuff that it was ok with others to do...

For example, if Baron DTs in a zone, Tay's responsible for 3 spots - high post, strong side arc, and middle arc. He closes out pretty decently, usually. Occasionally he'll get a bad jump and give up, which is irritating... however fault by this board goes to Tay by association.

Then, if Tay DTs in a zone, Baron's responsible for the same 3 spots. Anytime someone gets a shot off in those 3 spots, it was Monta's fault for DTing.... :banghead:

People's idea of 'defense' is usually who they like better or who they don't like...

That part is 100% true. Some people have been eager to latch onto any reason to take a negative view of Monta - I recall several poster frothing at the mouth over the "bad seed" rumors around draft time.

It probably comes down to him being uneducated and country. CA people can be amongst the most intolerant in the nation when it comes to anything southern.

I don't remember "frothing", but it was a weird rumor - if nothing else because it didn't benefit the Warriors to float that rumor... so who started it?

No, there were definitely a couple of posters who latched on to that rumor like pit bulls. There was definitely some frothing.

The rumors about being a bad seed really took off last off season and the only things I had heard about predraft was his tantrum at half time of the MD game.

There were a couple of reasons he slipped out of the first round that are much more legit: his knee surgery and the long term prognosis. I read something about the surgeon who did the surgery and concerns regarding his abilities. He is a 6'3" SG, who had a very poor performance in the predraft combine. A lot of scouts didn't believe he had a the basketball IQ and the other intangibles to be a PG in the NBA. He was a one man arsonal in HS and never played team oriented ball. Throw the tantrum and selfish play into the scouting report and he becomes a second round talent.
