Take out an ad in the paper apologizing for missing the playoffs? Hell we gave him 5 mil a year, picked up his option, let him play his stupid games last offseason while essentially leaving our franchise in limbo...
If we do miss the playoffs, I'd take an apology or a resignation to become a FO guy... or a statement that he'll only use smallball as a temporary pace changer, not our go to offense. Something.
Either way... a boring late April will sure shake up our front office. It will be interesting how PR tries to play it.

A lot what you say certainly has merit, but unfortunately it only becomes apparent to the the technically astute (when I say technical, it's those who truly understand the game of basketball and are able to remove their "homer" glasses in analyzing our season). Nellie practically gets a "free pass" from the press and should he "luck out" and get in the playoffs (just as he did last season) he will be receiving all the praises and accolades that we're used to hearing from the Homer Patrol. It's already starting (with # of wins, etc.). The thing that most of them seem to miss is how many games he loses for us with his bad coaching decisions. The wins come mostly from the talent (quite extraordinary) we have on this team. Believe it or not, talent can overcome bad coaching (look at Cleveland last year if you don't believe me).

Lets see...
Team finishes last season with a record above .500 for the first time in years. Regardless of if we got lucky by making it to the playoffs, the record indicates progress. But we did make it into the playoffs and knocked out the #1 team in the NBA.
This year we will win nearly 50 games. That is enough in any other year to make the playoffs. So if we dont make the playoffs, that is not Nelly's fault, that is the seeding system and the fact that it takes over 50 wins this year to make it; that is ridiculous! He should not be fired over an anomoly.
Granted, could the Warriors have won some more games had we played our young bigs more often and developed all of our younger players? Possibly, but could we have lost more games too? Yes...
I think this team could be better than it is right now like how the Mavs improved under Avery, but it could also go downhill if we hire the wrong coach like we have for the last 13 years...

If this was a "normal" year and not the whacky one it is...we'd all be THRILLED with a 7 to 8 game improvement and we'd like our chances in the playoffs. I mean 49 or 50 wins means we're pretty good team.
Problem is...this year with many Western teams doing so well it kinda makes us "look bad". Look at how many wins we've improved...our improved road record and let's be somewhat happy. That being said, I want to make the playoffs this year very badly and we do need to address some shortcomings during the offseason. Overall though, the teams pretty good and Nellie is a good coach (who doesnt use his bench properly/enough). Let's see what the future brings.....

At the beginning of the season I was expecting 42-45 wins (figuring that the team finished better than a 42-win team last year, but the JRich/BWright trade was a short-term step back). If I knew Baron would be healthy all year I would have upped that to ~50 wins.
While I'm disappointed that Barnatrus played so much in the post at the expense of young bigs, and that the TPE wasn't used to add a veteran rotation player for depth, the team still did as well as expected given a healthy Baron. Most fans would have gladly taken a 49-50 win season at the beginning of the year.
The oddity is that 49-50 wins probably doesn't make the playoffs, when it's usually a 3-6 seed. As a comparison Cleveland will finish with at best 46 wins and is still considered a deep playoff threat. The result is that I'm not quite sure what to make of the season, and for the future. Are the Warriors hopelessly behind the elite in their current configuration and need to trade off Baron and Jackson to rebuild (given their 9th place finish)?, or are the Warriors on the brink of being an elite team themselves (only 7 games back of the top spot in the West)?

Its all a double edged sword, this outrage that 48 wins wont get us in... if the West was like the East, and we snuck in with 36, people would be praising Nellie for getting us in...
The bottom line always changes... used to be the most important thing was to get into the playoffs... now that that's unlikely, its that Nellie wins more...
As teams like POR and SEA rebuild the right way, established teams like the Lakers, Spurs, and Suns all have at least a couple years left in them... is this team going to be able to compete with that?
Hiring a guy like LB could change all that though... someone who can get BD and Jax to stop chucking, and honestly I don't think we'd need to make a trade - just sign and draft some good role players. Maybe try and score a 2nd from some other team and get some depth... like a Lasme type
Something has to change... someone has to go.
