Brand's the key.

No way do I want us having to deal with Baron, Brand, Kaman, Livingston, and Thorton. That's probably better than what we end up with.

Now Baron for Brand may be a pipe dream, but that's what I want.

We might be able to sign Maggette or work a sign and trade without involving Baron if you really want the guy.

If it's the pick you're after, there's no-one who'll give us the impact of Baron or having to play Baron four times a year.

i deal with the Lakers, because they're already better than us. We don't have to leap frog them.

Odom and Ariza would be good enough for me, but you guys can debate that.

Also as for Miami being a destination. Not Baron's first pick, but if it's a money thing and he can get that from Miami, there are worst places he could go.

Marion for a year or 2 could be interesting with Tay, Wright, Jax, and Beans. Your talking long and athletic. Problem with Marion is what guy is coming in? Problem child, or Nellie big.

Overall i expect Baron and the Dubs to reach an agreement. Then next year when things are shaping up you can decide if you wanna put Baron on the trade deadline block.

If Baron holds firm with the 20 million dollar number, then the scramble for the best deal available begins.

+ 1 Mylie.

I say we should try and "steal him" from the Clips (let him opt out and get him for nothing other than the big salary cap hit we'd have to assume) or force the Clips to trade him to us for less than they'd like to. I'm not interested in making any deals with anyone in our conference which makes them better than it makes us (especially any of the LA teams).

Let's put to bed this Brand nonsense... its been going on for far too long now.

Brand is Mr. 20-10... 20/10 every damn season. Tears his ACL. That's when the Clips are going to deal him? No way... if they are dealing him, its at the deadline for youth... not for Baron. The only reason Brand's value would be anywhere near Baron's is the injury, and I'm fairly sure that LAC isn't oblivious to that.

The market is extremely limited for Baron, and if Brand leaves the Clippers, we lose our potentially best suitor for him. I know one thing, I do not want a 30+ y/o Baron playing 50-60 games a season, chucking through his 'prime'.

If we could walk away from Baron and Al, and get Maggette/Eric Gordon in the process, along with one solid vet (Mobley) and one unique player (Tim Thomas), I'd love it... it would also upset the applecart of the patrol, which I'm 100% behind as well

This is going to sound rather random, but what if you guys sidestepped and traded Baron for AI?

I think both teams could use a jolt.

Why? AI doesn't solve anything for us and is a few years older.

LF..no kidding. If a PF can't shoot from three..he has no use for him.

By the way.....Baron Davis is a top 5 point guard...and even those that thnk of less of him have to agree to at least top 10.

I'd only trade Baron if he's replaced with a big time go to closer type....and as we know...no teams give up equal value.

Baron can be a stud for the next 4 years....so I would trade Harrington AB and anyone not named Monta to get a legit dominante big man.....

Baron's not gonna miss half the season anymore. And if every star not named Steve Francis or Stephon Marbury is still good after 30, why can't Boom be?

A lot are good at 32. By age 34 there is usually a significant drop in quickness.

Baron has been half-assing a lot this year and clearly thought it was enough to be an All Star, make the playoffs and then go all out, and secure an extension or a safe opt out.

It wasn't.

BD was VERY good to start the year, but he's half-assing as of now. And wouldn't you, since our playing style is the most physically demanding?

Baron Davis is a problem that 75% of NBA teams would love to have.

I think that Baron (and possibly Jack too) came to the conclusion that currently with the way Nellie was managing the team, that they weren't going to make (and even if they did) they were going to be one and done and therefore lost interest, became indifferent and just started looking for their shots instead of playing the way they are capable and the way they played at the close of last season and a great deal this season. That and probably a bit fatigued for all those minutes they had to play. The most likely realized the same thing about "small ball" they many of us did. No chance in the playoffs with guys like Bukie and Pietrus playing the 4. I feel bad for them in a way. I think it's really had for your guards to be expected to average 8-10 rebounds a game because your coach chooses to play guards and small forwards at the power forward position and small forwards and power forwards at the 5 positions. It puts a huge burden on those guys and I imagine could be pretty frustrating. Plus no solid big men to back them up defensively when their guys get by them (which is pretty easy particularly when they are expected to double-team and get steals by playing the passing lanes instead of their man). All that and 40 + minutes a game. It's gotta be somewhat disheartening.
