If lazy D sticks out in Euroball, thats not even a red flag, thats a red blanket... it's a red carpet... whatever it is, how do you not notice this stuff?

--- Scotch Goggles ---

Happens a lot with Euros. Imagine a 60 sec highlight reel of the best of Pietrus or even the best of Foyle. They could look awesome. Often Euro's get hyped up as if the "best case scenario" happens for 48 min every night-but the reality is far different.

Used to be the meat of the draft was guys playing major level college ball 3-4 years. You got a real look at the whole picture, trends, patterns, intangibles.

Lately it's freshmen riding a hype wave off high school or Euro's who get hyped as " Next Dirk" while scoring 13 pt a game vs second tier teams. You have to be pretty wary about seeing what you WANT to see.

all need to get stronger, when playing a team like Utah, it's like Men playing Boys, we get pushed right off the block even if we have position, can we get a carl landry or paul milsap in the draft this year? We need some real talent in the low post, so Carlos Boozer would be much better actually...

We usually can...except that the concept tends to drift to some longer-quicker-younger guy -like B Wright who we just assume adds 30 lb and does not lose a step. Rather than the solid reality of what is..the fantasy of best scenario prevails. i like B Wright-but he is no bruiser and probably won't be. Ironically....this type player goes at a bargain price on draft day.

I admittedly wanted Marco to be better... Italian pride and all that... but that wasnt why I thought he was quick, I heard he was in one of the better leagues in Euroball and was much quicker than the rest...

I even compared him with Yi's tapes... Yi was slightly quicker and longer than the CBA players... Marco was way quicker...

I do think there's also something to be said for inactivity... kid is used to playing a lot.

But the point you brought up makes it difficult for us to evaluate... it in no way should be difficult for NBA teams to evaluate players... you put a player with decent competition for 10 games and thats more than plenty to make a good evaluation on his overall game. With Euros and internationals, it becomes much harder (for us)

Huh? Nellie drafted Marco. You think Marco doesn't see time now, just try him under a different coach.

Under a different coach, he will get playing time because we are going to play our bench unlike Don Nelson.

I knew Marco was good from the moment I saw him and I still believe he is good. When the guy got run with the A squad in those two games over the last week you saw what he could do...30 pts in 35 minutes.

Yeah, he needs to get stronger and needs to get better defensively. And Monta needs to work on his 3 pt shot and play better defense. And Brandan needs to get stronger. And Andris needs to develop a better back to the basket game and get stronger.

They are young guys. They are supposed to have flaws that need to be worked on. Dont know why Mullin saying that Marco is the same should create an uproar.
