The Key to Our Offseason is:

Post#1 » by FNQ » Fri Apr 25, 2008 3:32 am

Kelenna Azubuike

I think we'll know exactly what the W's have planned based on what happens with Buke... he's essentially the symbol of gimmickball

- If he walks, I'd imagine we offered him a 1 year tract, as we should, and we recognize the guy is a gimmickball player...

- If he signs on for one year, the rest of the league is wise to the fact of Buke's value and he didn't have any other options...

- If we sign him for more than 1 season, our FO is being masterminded by Don Nelson and we're in deep, deep :censored: for the next few seasons.. we'll likely retain Baron/Harrington and keep plodding forth with this emotional up and down team of gimmickball, even as the Smart Era rolls around...

To be honest, I hope Option 2 happens... as woeful as Buke is sometimes, we're Kate Moss thin @ the SF position if he leaves...

The draft will show nothing, unless we make a trade... there's no way we can't draft a PF/C in this coming draft.... are we going to bank on Al/Biedrins/Wright all season? Kosta's our safety valve?

I thought this thread was going to be about something important.

The key to our offseason is gonna depend on what happens with Nelly,BD and Mully's offseason plan on which free agents/draft prospect/personnel to acquire in the offseason if the worst case scenario develops.

I don't want to lose him for nothing. Try to atleast swing a trade with Dallas for Bass using Buike.

All these threads evolve into something anyways :D

Buke = the symbol of our team's gimmick.... Based on what we do w/him, it won't be too hard to tell what direction our team is going in.

i tihnk your a little hard on buike.

don nelson playing him at PF is the symbol (and realization) of gimmickball.

hes a backup serviceable sf. ride him if hes hot, sit him if hes not...pretty standard nba backup.

Azu's a small SF because he doesnt have ball handling or passing skilzzzz...He's not a NBA level 2 gaurd..He's got to be a PF in gimmick ball or a SF 11th man type on a really sucky team.

Bukie as a 6th man is a sign that a team lacks depth. As a 8-10th man, available for $2-2.5M, he's a useful reserve option for any Warriors offseason option (either a - trying to compete while staying under the tax with an untra-cheap bench, b - competing with a real bench and going $5-6M over the tax for a year, c - trading Baron and going young).

This team can't have Azubuike as the 6th man next season, he needs to be the 8th or 9th guy off the bench next season. That would be nice if both sides settle on a 1 year deal. If another NBA team offers a multi-year deal, the Warriors should just move on.

The key to our offseason is the weather in Maui.

lots of sun could mean successful offseason.

lots of rain could mean bad offseason.

Buike is also a symbol of the success of gimmick ball. Nelson also dug up John Starks and Mario Ellie who were contributers to Championship contending teams.

They were all finds and were paid the minimum.

You have swung too far into the negative with your recent posts. The Warriors didn't win 48 games with only Biedrins being their only legitimate big man because all the Warriors players suck.

Azubuike is better than most of the NBA's back up 2 guards. Azubuike is a good scorer who could give at team 18 to 20 points a night at a decent FG % if the Warriors asked him to be the 1st or 2nd option. He is as good a rebounder as he is bad as a passer.

Azubuike is acceptable to me as either a off guard or as a small forward.
His defense is OK. I think he is quicker than Jackson and about the same quickness or a little quicker than Belinelli. With Pietrus going to some other team the Warriors almost have to resign Azubuike.

Azubuike is a valuable NBA level 8th man. I don't know if Belinelli is good enough to replace Azubuike.
