My two cents for the W's upcoming draft and offseason moves

Post#1 » by darobster17 » Mon May 26, 2008 7:22 pm

First off, whatever team drafts Love will be sorely disappointed because the guy will spend more time being hurt...He seems he's one injury away from being on IR. As W's fans, do we want or need to draft a guy for making great outlet passes???

W's need to deal Harrington for a cheaper and productive sixth man...I'd settle for a mid round first round draft pick and off the bench player.

We resign Ellis and hopefully Beans but I would not be surprised if they shopped Beans for the right player in return.

Baron will play out his contract and will have to put up stellar #'s to get the money he covets. As a result, W's will have better trade value at the deadline.

At #14th I'd take the best player to make an impact either to start or off the bench. I like Donte Green...he reminds me of a taller Josh Howard. He can play at SF and see some time at PF once he gets stronger.

With the second round, I'd take Dorsey,DJ White or athletic SG like Weems or JR Giddens.

Donte Greene? Check out how many 3's he launched while having a pretty poor %.....very scary. Too bad-I saw some interesting stuff.

Dorsey or White as a rd 2 would be okay. The ideal would be to get high rd 2's with hopes of getting Hendrix or Anderson, who can score and are road tested as rebounders too.

I would not be surprised.....by anything the Warriors do.
Trading Biedrins would seem pure folly. There's maybe 2 centers in the NBA I'd do it for....and we can't get them. We got NO other C. We got one year of Nellie left....and it typically has taken GSW 15 years to find a good Center...so.........

Baron doesn't want to work for MLE. Who's $15-19 mill under cap? Probably nobody. In a year.....it's not like Baron walks. More logical he returns or is swapped in a S+T. We can have our next coach lined up when it's time to make that choice. Baron was no liability. Remember that Dallas series? If we are ready to go another path in a year, and we get value....maybe we deal. There's a lot of LOSER deals suggested on the trade board now. Who else is trading there stars for a raffle ticket..a shot at a kid that's as apt to be a dud as a stud? Nobody.
A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

I keep coming back to #14 for Morris Almond and the Utah #1. I pick Jason Thompson with the Utah pick.

Minny has a pair of high #2's. Ryan Gomes and Craig Smith are S+T candidates. I'd dangle Belli and our lower rd 2...maybe there's some POB S+T options-maybe that bus has left the depot. I'd consider a future rd 1 in 2010 in the right deal.

I want Lester Hudson. He's a probable high rd 2
CENSORED... No comment.

i think you're right on with all of your offseason ideas, but Love will be a player in the NBA (rotation at the very least). If you watched any UCLA games this year you'd be hard pressed not to like his toughness/durability.

Aren't most players in professional sports an injury away from being on IR?

Kidding, I see your point.

But people keep bringing this up about Love... what makes people believe that he'll be injured?

I'm with you on Giddens.... he's worth a shot for someone 2nd round...

Glad I wasn't the only one laughing at that...

But I dont get the injury knock. He's not been injured! He had knee scopes done in HS, but they didn't affect him in college at all. Why now is he an injury risk? Because he's flabby? Is Busty an injury risk too then? I'd hate to know what that makes Glen Davis...

I mean, there's not even a consistent connection between injuries and conditioning, not at this level. Of course, there's a few immature injury cases (not gonna say names, but some famous Zohan-commercialed PGs may fit) yet we're more than willing to throw Love to those wolves already?

:dontknow: I just find it odd that people who base their convictions on history are biased but this stuff goes right under the old radar.

not sure if someone can confirm this, but I've heard that he's worked a bit of the weight off since the tourny... and its not like his weight was a super issue, in fact, since he's not the most athletic player, his weight might be of more advantage in helping box out/rebound at the next level.

enough Stro Swifts and Warricks in the NBA... lets get some skilled big men on the floor.

Watching the Espn predraft camp video on Love, the guy seems bothered by the criticisms and hard pressed to work on his weaknesses.

If I'm the GM, I'm not taking Love at 14 for the Warriors. I think McHale will trade down to get him though. He could be the guy the Twolves need to pair up with Al Jefferson.

After watching the predraft camp videos of Speights and Joe Alexander,I think Mareese Speights is an intriguing prospect that could be what the W's is looking for. He has size, athleticism and shown he can shoot for a big man. Anyone watch him last season?

If (and its a big if) Love is there at 14, how could you not take him? Spreads the court with range out to 18-20, has shown he can work in the paint (both sides), and his outlet passes would send Monta breaking the other way for easy baskets 3-4 times a game.

small offseaon plan, which could set the Warriors up next season well

if Love, Arthur or Speights isnt there wit the 14 pick

the Warriors trade 14 and 44, along with Al and Kosta for

Earl Watson, Wilcox, 24, 32 and a 50ish pick

11 main players would be

Baron/Watson
Ellis/Belli
SJAX/Bukie(resigned)/#24
Wilcox/Wright/#32
Andris/Wilcox

Baron and Ellis get a backcourt mate who can man 15-20 mins at PG, and Wilcox is athletic enough to man the 4/5 spots.. would be a nice 3 man rotation with Andris and Wright, along with possibly whoever we draft at 32...

last move would be to try and repackage 24 and 32 for say and 18 pick and maybe just grab Joe Alexander

Return to Golden State Warriors
