So I've removed Jax from the deal and tried to squeeze as much as possible out of the other teams to make this more enticing. I'm not as confident that the other teams would still do this, but it's close. Still, you won't like this if you're against rebuilding regardless.

Mem sends: Cardinal, Crittenton and pick #5
Mem gets: Varejao, Perovic, pick #14 and Min 2009 1st

Memphis can't get anyone to workout for them, so they trade down and pick up a future first and get to swap Cardinal for Varejao.

Cle sends: Varejao, Szczerbiak and pick #19
Cle gets: Harrington and Mobley

Mobley would still be a decent upgrade over Wally for the Cavs and it doesn't cost them much to add Harrington.

LAC sends: Mobley, Thomas, pick #7 and Min 2009 1st
LAC gets: Davis

GS sends: Davis, Harrington, Perovic and pick #14
GS gets: Crittenton, Thomas, Cardinal, Szczerbiak, picks #5, #7 and #19

I'd want Love, Gordon and Rush in the draft but if one of them wasn't there I would also take Randolph, Gallinari or Speights.

I've pawned Mobley off on Cleveland this time. It could be Jones/Snow coming back instead of Szerbiak but I don't really see the difference as they're all expiring and pretty useless players.

I don't mind taking back Cardinal and Thomas in the trade as their contracts are only for two more seasons and could very likely be useful in trades next summer or at the trade deadline.

Crittenton obviously needs some work, but I like his potential. The thing about Crittenton is that if he reaches his potential he can not only back-up Monta but also play alongside him. Also, I'm not at all concerned about the Lakers giving him up as they needed to give some prospect to Memphis and Crittenton was the guy who obviously wasn't needed this year. Besides, if we're keeping Nelson around for another year might as well give him another young guard to work with and I don't particularly like any of the PG's in this draft after Rose.

LAC's gonna hate that... that MIN 1st is a complete unknown right now and they're likely to keep it.

GS gets far too much here... the #5 and 7 for Baron and Harrington, and moving down 5 spaces? I dunno about that.

MEM also needs tweaking, as they can't just blindly bank on Minny not doing well next year.

CLE is about right.

Overall I dont see MEM fitting in well, it seems they are kind of being forced in due to Crittenton, which seems strange to me despite his size.

I also dont like the idea of delaying our cap space another year, as it just gives Biedrins / Monta / Wright and the rest a year of inflated salaries. I'd much rather trade Baron for Kidd / Bass, trade Al + Kosta for Wally + 19, ensure we get Rush, and draft the BPA @ 19... maybe even reach a bit for Chalmers? Hendrix? Maybe Speights is still there? Maybe even take Ajinca and stash him overseas... its not unheard of, as the Wiz did it with a much, much lesser talent (Pecherov)

Kidd / Tay / (Chalmers)
Tay / Rush / Beli
Jax / Rush / Buke
Wright / Bass / (Hendrix/Speights)
Biedrins / Bass / (Hendrix/Speights/Ajinca)

The Minny 1st is top-ten protected for a couple years, so I don't think LA would have a problem giving it up. And besides, the more I think about it LA's getting a pretty good deal here because they're saving money while getting a huge talent upgrade.

I probably reached a little on Memphis, maybe send them back #7 instead of #14 and take #28. Crittenton is part of the reason they're in the deal because they're one of the few teams with excess young point guards that they could deal. I guess it could be Lowry instead, but I don't see the upside with him and I would just as soon try to draft Mario Chalmers. The other reason that Memphis is in the deal is because they would value Varejao and the money savings. I don't think Wally and #19 is enough for Harrington, but the only other thing that Cleveland has of value is AV and GS doesn't need him.

This doesn't change our future cap space situation much as we'll probably barely have more than the MLE next summer anyway. Also, the only FA I'd be interested in that summer is Kidd and I wouldn't want to pay him much more than the MLE.

Speaking of Kidd, I have a few problems with the Kidd/Bass for Baron deal. First of all, I have a hard time believing that Cuban is going to trade him again so quickly even for BD. Just swapping BD for Kidd adds $3.5 million in salary, and we're squeezed anyways. I'm not sure how Kidd would react to being traded to a team that wasn't trying to compete for a championship. If he's going to come here I want it to be something that he agrees to and I think he's still looking to win a title. So, the fact that Kidd will be a FA next year and we could sign him then if he was comfortable with the situation would be better IMO.
