old stoned bastard? Okay you got that but you are wrong about Hansborough. I don't get how Love a top 5 makes sense but Hansborough,a very similar player can't play in the NBA even after being the top guy in the ACC,a 20/10 guy with hustle,a consensus All America. We just drafted a guy almost 7 ft tall who weighs less than Manute Bol. WTF makes Hansborough not a viable player? How about the guys he has outplayed....should they just quit the game and become bowlers?
I like Hansborough and like to catch UNC games just to watch him. The problem is he reminds me of Mark Madsen. Another guy that was fun to watch in college. High energy guys that every single NCAA team wishes they could have. If Hansborough had Love's shooting range his ceiling would be higher.
True....If Hansborough had Love's range that would be a plus--but then he goes top 10 and isn't relevant to us.
That Hansborough was a success in College should not mean that's not possible in the pros where ultimately he's playing against many of the same guys eventually. Most of them were college players and sucking in college ball sure does not make a guy a better pro.
TH isn't fouling much,he's got "in the paint" skills and when you try to stop him-usually you foul him because he's using strength and technique. His Effort-hustle may mark him as an "overachiever",but that was always the case..."He's just an overachiever"....uh..maybe but he just beat you. That intense desire-effort is a nice bonus in that it also rubs off, inspires. Also...he's a "got your back" guy,he's always alert and looking for the little thing that needs to be done. He's no dummy.
Moses Malone in his prime was just a bit taller and had less hops but Moses WAS the textbook for low post technique and nearly unstoppable. Teams got in foul trouble trying.
Jerry Lucas was similar, great technique and strong. Lucas often had a 20 pt 20 reb game and he was basically the same size as Hansborough.
