Sleepy, let me just say that if it were up to me I'd keep Al.
The reason I say he's probably gonna be traded is because of his rumored demands. Or should I say his reumored disinterest in Nellie's schemes.
I'd play it out until the trade deadline and then make my decisions with both Al and Baron based on how the seasons progressing or not.
Like you said Sleep, Al fills a need here. He has a place, it just needs to be consistant, and Nellie shouldn't pigeon hole him into one tag - "3 point shooter only". He wants to be more free to play a more natural position. Let him play some 3, why not?
What we should do is excercise that TE and add some talent that way. Go over the tax, and then make moves as needed to get back under the tax, or prepare for the playoffs and make your money back that way.
Maybe now that we have some bigger guys and a more prominent role for Brandan, maybe Al will find himself playing on position instead of covering many.
I think he's gone soon, so Mully needs to address needs and not just ship him for future cap space. I don't want to be the effing A's.
Al on trade watch?
