You're absolutely wrong. Go back to Boston.

lol- this offseason the warriors can offer someone a max contract. I would really love to see you show me the math where you think they will still have that ability next offseason unless the cap takes some kind of ridiculous jump.

You haven't said who you think the Warriors should care about enough to offer max money to besides their own free agents. Once you've got your ideas, we can play.

Meantime, do your own math if you don't already know the numbers for next year (don't forget another $6 million of Foyle comes off the books).

Meantime, seems like you're hoping we're moved by business as usual from Baron and preying on our reactionary sensibilities. There's only one base-level nincompoop here who will satisfy you. Go bug Philly, if you haven't already.

You showed up here, hombre. Not the other way around.

I'd think the warriors would make a run at Josh Smith. If he gets matched then Deng. 6 million of Foyle comes off the books but you are adding 10 million of ellis plus more for Biedrins. I did run the numbers- it doesn't take long to do the cocktail napkin math. I just think that you are forgetting to add in things that kill any major caproom for next offseason.

I thought you said the Warriors would be fending off a grand Philadelphia max money offer for Ellis?
Tell the truth, you really don't have anything here, you're just screwing with Warriors fans.

I am saying what I would do if I were philly. And they don't have max money to offer anyway, I didn't start the thread.

If Baron leaves, the realistic fallout has Al and Stephen also leaving for immediate cap clearance. This is not speculation, this is what will happen next. The Warrriors were prepared to do such a "blow up" last season before Richardson and the Warriors had their incredible run into the playoffs.

So even if Ellis and Biedrins are signed for a combined $25 million, the team will be well below the cap.

Now, if you want the worst case scenario (max money), wait for FGump's post in the coming days or do your own math. There is no risk this offseason from Philadelphia or anywhere else.

That is not correct. You have to look at the buyout numbers. It is 6.8 Mil this coming year. And $700k or so next year to not pick up his team option.

After next summer, only Monta/Biedrins/the Rooks/Al/Jacko are on the books. Al has a $10M option that I don't see him picking up if he is still on the Warriors at the time (I think they'll trade him for an expiring). Adonal comes off for $7M. So they would have about $25M for Monta/Biedrins, $7 for Jacko, $8M for the rooks, plus, lets say, another $8M to fill out the roster. That still will leave them at least $12M under the cap for 2009, and it could be more if they just sign a bunch of 1 year deals this year to fill out the roster. They have the flexibility to make their future however they would like.

And if the Warriors would like, they could be MAJOR players in 2010. They could go in with only Monta and Biedrins with large contracts and the rest of the players, like Wright and Randolph, on rookie contracts. They could be $30+M in the black with the ability to sign multiple free agents. the future looks bright.

like I said, the cocktail napkin math is easy.

Harrington 10
Jackson 8
Wright 2.5
Perovic 2
Belinelli 1.5
Randolph 1.5
Foyle .5

26 Million. Say a combined 21 million for Biedrins and Ellis. which puts them at 47. Then that doesn't include any roster holds, a lottery pick next season, and would assume that with 18 million in caproom that the Warriors fill out the roster with only players on expiring contracts which is rather ridiculous.

Sure if the Warriors want to dump their good players for expiring contracts they can get way under again but thats not what the discussion was about. Right now the Warriors can add talent without dumping for crap.

1. We filled a roster with expitings just fine this past year
2. Jack and Al are gone if Baron is and there were expirings before. There will be expirings again.
3. The cap not only goes up every year, but the cap holds you're concerned about look mighty slim once you've got Ellis and Beans locked up. You're just guessing on all of that.

We could go on, but you've got nothing here and you're ranging broadly from your original softball about Ellis getting an offer from Philly that screws the Dubs' chances to get Brand.

Back to Boston with you or wait for the good word of Gump like the rest of us casual crunchers.

Well they filled out there team last year with nothing but 1 year deal's so I don't see what would stop them from doing that again if they pleased. Also, I guarantee Al won't be here after next year.

I'm ranging broadly because you asked nicely to see the numbers for next season. Philly making a huge offer to ellis would take the warriors off the FA market for this offseason which is all they care about. If the warriors really like the FA class next offseason so much more where they want to dump all excess salary in order to have as much room as possible then yeah they have the option. But if I were the GM I would sure rather just use that room this offseason before I extend Biedrins and Ellis where its easy to do so.
