Not Sexy but Kristic?
Kristic and Beans might make a nice center combo if the Brand experiment falls through (which it likely will).
Not sure what it would take to get him.
Also like Arroyo and Marcus Williams (nets) as a couple of PG's who need a change of scenary.
The Nets are looking at Forwards, so an Al Harrington deal might make sense here.

The Warriors still get to play all Summer and I like the thought. If Don Nelson retires!
But seriously, isn't this a blast?!

I'm down with the Al for S&T Kristic and Williams... Warriors get a backup PG with legit talent that hasn't panned out in NJ and a legit backup center or PF to pair with Biedrins in Kristic. Of course Kristic would have to check out medically. The Nets get a SF/PF that somewhat fits their needs and Al's contract just happens to expire when the Nets want to make their big run at Lebron... Seems like a pretty good match to me.

I'd do an Al for a Krstic + Arroyo deal (3-way) if it could be worked or even for Krstic + Williams if the Nets were game.

I was pretty high on Krstic a few years ago, but I'm very concerned about his injuries at this point.

I don't like Kritic's body for the running game anymore than we liked Al's, but I would be interested if we're becomming more conventional. He can play, and he plays big most of the time. It worth a look, but he couldn't play more than 20 mpg at our current pace/style.

Re: Not Sexy but Kristic?
He'd certainly be able to spell Beans at the Center position and could play some 4 as well (an occsasional 4/5 Boedrens/Krstic combo might be intriguing) and we wouldn't need many minutes from him at the 4 since BWright hopefully will be logging at least half of them.

Re: Not Sexy but Kristic?
I always get nervous about guys that come off injuries and then their team just lets them go. The Nets need a big bruising center, so why wouldn't they retain Krstic? My guess: Damaged Goods. I bet he signs a small contract with some team and eventually ends up back in Europe.

Hey guys, Nets fan here. Looks like we're kind of thinking along the same lines...
My trade proposal (please leave comments):

On Nenad...
Like I said in the trade thread, he obviously hasn't returned to form, but it's time to buy cheap - I remember Nets fans being worried about him taking much more money before his injury. The Nets have so many bigs already, I don't see them being able to play Nenad back into his previous self, if he does get there. Also, there's the common misconception that the dude can't do the uptempo style. In his pre-injury form, while not athletic, was very solid in transition with Jkidd. Not the best runner (although he did manage to beat the slower bigs on the break), but had good hands and was a good finisher. Really, the only reason I see the Nets moving him is because 1) we now have a large number of young bigs that need minutes and 2) he wants 3 years and Nets don't want any chance of messing up cap room for 2010.

You ever thought that the reason the Nets have a bunch of young bigs now is because they had no plans to keep Krstic--probably because there is something wrong with him?

Re: Not Sexy but Kristic?
I think he's the guy who tore his ACL... he was fluid and athletic pre-injury, if NJ's letting him walk, he sure isn't that right now...
Everytime a Euro's athelticism is downgraded, I get worried... I remember a guy being talked about as an almost surefire #1 pick - Nemanja Aleksandrov - and how one ACL injury has now kept him out of the draft still to this day, and he likely will never be drafted...
One giant red flag here... pass on Nenad.

Re: Not Sexy but Kristic?
If there was something seriously wrong with him, they would not have offered him the qualifying offer. Thorn has also said, recently, that he would like to keep Nenad. They just don't want to go past 3 years, understandably so. His confidence is pretty bad right now, and really the Nets don't have a coach who will let him play through mistakes. I'm not saying that, he's a sure thing, because obviously he's not, and I do have my doubts that he can return to form.
But the deal has more to it than that. I'd imaging the KVH unguaranteed contract would be very useful for you guys, too. Assuming Harrington indeed wants out, I don't see much risk on your part either.

Re: Not Sexy but Kristic?
The risk would be adding a guy that--with his decreased athleticism-- may just be a clone of our own Serbian backup center, Kosta Perovic. I would rather let another team take a risk on him.
Now if you want Al I would be happy to take Marcus Williams, Josh Boone, and Stro Swift off of your hands.

NEVER take a risk on an untested ACL injury. Trust me, I know. I've had 2!!!! Not only do you lose 1/2 to a full step each time but your vulnerable for good. Also, mentally, you'll never be the same again. Sorry Nets but your stuck with the broken Nenad. Unless he defies science, he's Europe bound.

Josh isn't usually a deal breaker in most trades for me, but in this case, he is. Al is pretty much a stopgap SF, until 2010, just to TRY to keep the Nets competitive and give some more veteran presence. Marcus and Stro I have no problem whatsoever leaving, but Josh is in our future plans. Not saying we would not let him go, but not for a stop gap solution. You've got a deal if you throw Marco in there, but I doubt you do that.

I don't know about Europe bound, but Nenad did look mentally fragile last year. We also have a coach who is pretty bad at giving young kids confidence and letting them play through mistakes. I do hope your wrong cuz he's a good kid. Some team will give him a shot, I'm sure though.
