Elton Brand chooses Dubz?

I was just watching the channel 5 cbs nightly news here in San Jose. Rumored that he has put his LA home up for sale for 5 million dollars and will announce his signing with the Dubz on Wednesday.

Did anyone else catch this?

Yeah, if you go in the existing Elton Brand thread this is mentioned repeatedly. Doesn't substantiate anything, just adds to the intrigue.

Was that story before or after they reported on the snowball fight in hell? :dontknow:

Don't get me wrong... I'd love if it were true... it's just so unlikely. I don't want get into a capspace fight with the Clippers and 6ers... 6ers are late to the Brand party but are a damn good fit for him. I knew they couldn't be too interested in Smith with Brand out there... Smith might get a heavy diss in free agency from other teams and be forced to take what the Hawks give him.

The Sixers cant spend what we can, are on the opposite coast, and field a worse team that we do. I don't think they are even in consideration of teams Elton Brand would sign with.

Its between us and the Clips. With that $20M difference in salary, I'm leaning towards him coming to GS.

EDIT: They inexplicably moved the story... Stein may have added some info in there.

^^ PHI can easily get to the same dollar amount as LAC... and Brand has stated he'd do better on a grind it out, slow paced, Eastern Conference team. If the cap is higher than projected, they could get near our range even.

Losing Baron makes the W's lose cred in the league... can Brand see through it? Maybe... but its really tough to take any gimmicky team seriously, especially when you don't fit in it. We'd have to do one hell of a sales job to get Brand here.

On another note, I don't get where the OP is getting this stuff about Brand being rumored to sign... probably more like - 'Could he be on his way to the Warriors? Elton Brand is putting up his LA home for sale and should have a decision by Wednesday'.

Dallas under Nelson played a more traditional style of ball. No reason to think that Nellie would be unable to institute a unique system based around Brand considering the talent we have on this team. We could certainly go with a traditional lineup of:

Monta
S-Jax
Al/Kelenna
Brand
Biedrins

I'd say there is little chance of him going to Philly (for all of the aforementioned reasons). It's a two horse race, but if he chooses us then at the finish line his prize money is an extra $20M.

We'll see what fuels Brand on Wednesday at the latest..

BTW, the Clips can offer a shade over 10m less according to recent reports... 80-85m according to Stein, but that requires a lot of renouncing... Dubs are definitely the leaders in the $$ aspect but might be last in everything else.

I also caught it on the 11:00 news. He said Brand is selling his house in Los Angeles and the Warriors signing him is now imminent. Hope it's true.

Brand will stick with LA. As much as we'd love to have him it's just not happening.

At this stage I have can only realistically see us ending up with Childress as Max offers will find their way to Iggy, Josh, and Brand will take LA money. Maggette will be a Celtic, Spur, Jazz or Hornet.
