Heild was fine. Right after his TO, Steph had one just as bad. Then Butler passed with no shot clock left. Jumping on players for one bad play is pointless. There is no one in the league who will pass that test.

When you have an all-NBA level player next to you open, you give them the ball, especially if you have NOTHING like Hield had. Very rarely does something go right when Hield tries to make plays vs just take shots.

Curry threw away a ball when nobody could get open, he had to get rid of it.

With hield, it goes to overall decision making.

That play was bad but he seems to just make bad decisions on the regular. There was one play when the shot clock was winding down and he looked off an open pod for a contested 3. He has to play smarter

Sure, he isnt perfect. But fans are picking at the holes in his game and not noticing the stuff he does well. He is not a problem:

Just a few thoughts...

1) Isn't winning FUN? I mean, geez, the arrival of Jimmy has meant so much for everyone. It seems like players know their roles now, they're not trying to do too much, and the chemistry if fantastic. But the key thing here is this: Jimmy has freed Steph. Jimmy isn't selfish, doesn't care about scoring points, almost always makes the right pass (without turning it over) and on defense has a great awareness.

2) Podz has really contributed lately and his contributions are absolutely necessary. I really think he was burdened in the off-season by the trade rumors and Lacob calling him a future all-star. I mean, come on, that's a lot of pressure. He struggled at the beginning but now he's found his role and he's not trying to do too much.

3) Draymond is alive on defense again. He still makes poor decisions with the ball; his offense, especially around the rim, can be so frustrating because he so often is left unguarded; but, more than anything, he makes clutch plays on defense when you need him the most.

4) I'm still mad, frustrated. Why? Because at the time of the Butler trade, I thought a couple of things. One, the Warriors would suddenly be very good. OK, maybe they've exceeded my expectations, but I knew Jimmy would have a huge impact. But I desperately wanted them to make one more trade, and specifically to get a center with some offensive skills and some ability to get rebounds. Watching this team now, I feel like yeah, they're really good, a lot of commentators have now called them the 2nd best team in the West. But getting that one extra piece at the deadline could have put this team over the top (as in playing in the finals). Draymond shouldn't be tasked with playing center for so much of game. As we saw tonight, certain teams can still overmatch the Warriors with size.

5) Post I like a lot but it's really unfair to have to rely on him as much as they do. He's really not ready for this, makes a ton of mistakes, and isn't very good on defense. But you can see he's learning, getting better. He'd be ideal off the bench with certain lineups. He would have benefited so much from playing behind a skilled offensive center and contributing in spots.

6) Kuminga is talented and he's trying but I'm sure we all cringe when he's in there closing just because he's prone to making mistakes. Warriors with this roster though are just going to have to ride with Kuminga, Post at times, and even Hield because they indeed need Buddy's shooting.

7) It's a flawed roster with holes. But they're all connected and playing about as well as they can. I'm telling myself to enjoy this because it's simply such a different experience. As Steph has stated and as we've all wanted, it's nice to play in meaningful games again. Whether they're one move away from actually being a contender? We'll find out soon enough.

what a win. finally - I say - against DEN. it was important not only standings wise but also psycologically. you don't want to go 0-10 in the last 10 vs the same team.
steph is fantastic, it's not just what he does, it's how he does it. the difficulty of the shots he takes and makes, the style of play is unreal. never seen anything like that on a basketball court, it's not even about who is the goat who is best etc. just there is no one in the history of the game that played or play the game the way he does. he's another thing. period.

DEN remains a tough matchup still, and the one the dubs should really avoid in the post-season. not saying teams like the thunder or the freethrowtakers would be easy to face, but the nuggets (and the clippers) are built in a way that gives GS more troubles.
few thoughts on the joker: he is the best offensive big ever, the (amount of) things he does offensively are unbelievable. all DEN offense runs through him. and this leads to the second point: he's also the best playmaker in the game and arguably a top 3 all-time. no kidding. he's nothing short of a magic johnson in terms of playmaking skills and vision. yes, he plays the C position and he's a C. but he's also the best PG in the game. not your traditional PG, yet no one come close to him right now.

Those are interesting stats. Nobody on the Warriors over +300?

I just heard on a podcast that SGA is threatening to hit over +1000. He'd be the only non Warrior to do the for a season since Curry and I believe Draymond as well in one of the peak years.

Hope Curry override Kerr's decision more... especially when he is white hot and get benched.

The Warriors were just under .500 when Butler showed up, most would have been just over or under 0 per game.

If you go from the point Butler joined the Warriors on Feb 8th.
#1 SGA +276
#2 D.White +214
#3 Zubac +211
#4 Curry +198
#5 Draymond +192

#11 Butler III +168

#15 Podziemski +162

If you want just Warriors +/- since Feb 8th...
Curry, Draymond, Butler, Podz, Hield, Moody, and Santos are all over +100. From the regular Warrior players, only Kuminga is negative at -27 but that is low volume of his 11 games with the 2 stinkers in Atlanta and Miami which was a combined -31, so if you remove those, he's a +4 in 9 games which isn't all that impressive on a team that went 8-1 the 9 games we are counting.

This is actually part of what makes Kerr a great coach. He empowers his staff and players, and listens to them. He understands that good ideas can come from others, not just him.

Its the complete opposite of where i see companies headed, including my own.

Return to Golden State Warriors
