WISEMAN EXPECTATIONS: Year 1

I personally can't wait for results of one summer working with NBA coaches and a training camp.

I've always heard that players need to develop & learn before the season starts. Traditional wisdom and all that. So I'd like to see Wiseman after having one actual offseason of work with the team.

Doesn't mean he will turn out to be a better pick, or the right pick. Might give us a better handle on what he "is".

Or, and I know this is crazy, we don't let our reaction to the missed opportunity [LaMelo] shade our evaluation of what Wiseman can or can't do. Or maybe we see if they can figure out a way to add a square hole to how they play, in a manner that doesn't hurt their overall productivity.

Well when the Warriors feature the center in their style of play....I'll be even more exited. Hoping that Wiseman becomes something really special in 2-3 years in a system and modern era of hoops that asks much less of the center spot....ummm....

I know I'm not REALLY the GM of the Warriors lol. But if I was, I wouldn't "waste" Curry's best years waiting for a 19 year old project to come around IF I can move him and other assets for an all-star.

They need size of some kind. The Lakers won last year through bullying the opposition with size inside, Howard was big for them.

So its not unreasonable to have drafted Wiseman. Are there better players in that draft class? We won't know for sure for a couple more years but probably.

You can't always get the "right" pick.

Wiseman may never be more than the 15-20 minute centers that Warriors were getting on minimum contracts. They can't play a lot in the playoffs but they help get you there because they can't play small all the time.

I'm not married to the Wiseman splits just yet. They obviously forcefed him early to the team's detriment and using that to scale out his impact is probably not a good idea. He's doing better in transition and in terms of flowing with the offense lately, so I think w/regards to his development fit, a rolling window of time is going to be a better indicator of his impact than looking at his full season, as the full season look screams of an effort to discredit.

To that end, I remember an interaction I saw on twitter re: Trevor Bauer. Analyst announces, praises the signing. Non analyst twitter guy says: "I cant believe we're paying 42.5M a year for a guy with a career 3.90 ERA!"

Analyst quickly reminds him that what he did years ago is no longer relevant, you are paying for what he is today. And today, he is the defending Cy Young winner with a sub 2 ERA and sub 3 FIP who played with a poor defense in a juicebox of a ballpark.

Same thing here. When people continuously cite that Wiggins/Wiseman is our worst combo.. ok, you mean the guys who were paired together at the start of the season when Wiseman was brutal? And then when Wiseman went to the bench and Wiggins went with him? Cool. That's extraneous data.

Lakers got their size off the scrap heap, you don't need to spent the 2nd overall pick on size if that's just what you are looking for

Ex Warriors on the scrap heap might want to rejoin. Iguodala may be cooked like Livingston or he may be taking it easy in Miami.

McGee, if Kerr is open to it. He was the last functioning center that ever played on this team, so why not.

Lin may be semicooked. Hard to tell, but should be low cost to the team. The only issue is freeing up roster spot.

I believe they still will shoot for a playoff spot while keeping their draft pick, so let’s see what Myers can pull off by the deadline.

Negative, the 7 days is the new standard for incubation periods. It can only get longer, not shorter
