But if one or both of them says they'll walk, Warriors would be screwed too, no? Because even though it would clear a lot of salary, it still wouldn't be enough to get more than MLE players to replace them.

That's assuming they give Poole $20-25 million a year and Wiggins $25-30 million a year.

If they refuse to play for the money offered they can be sign and traded for a smaller contract in return. There are ways and ways and ways. Nothing is certain.

I agree that on the last good couple of years of their playing careers, they should look to take an acceptable/appropriate contract for their age. They certainly gotten stuff from the Spurs' coaching playbook, but not the contract/salary management the Spurs had when Timmay, Manu, and Parker took substantial discounts on their contracts to remain competitive and sign very good role players to fringe starters.

The thing about those Spurs deals from what I've heard around here in Texas, those deals included long well paying gigs with the franchise after they retired.

Orlando coincidentally posted a pic of Poole the same week that he was rumored to be a 2023 free agent target.

I'm sure it was just coincidental that the Magic posted a pic of Poole 2 days after a report came out that he could be a Magic target. The media person for the Magic probably doesn't know what Poole looks like.

I just noticed all the tampering comments this morning on Twitter.

All of it is fueled by media just guessing at finding a story to get chatter going, then if it works more media pick it up and spread it even more.

The reality is somewhere more like pretty much every team would like to have Poole and not many will have the free cap space to make an open competitive offer. But everyone can see that and that doesn't make "news".

The "tampering" talk is just chatter by ignorant people.

That's true and they probably saw that the Magic could have $60M+ in space next season.

Magic already giving up on Anthony and Suggs?

Or they'd sign Poole to just come off the bench?

The Magic aren't doing anything. It's just media speculation.

I've seen "rumors" that include trades for Suggs, Anthony, Isaac, and pretty much everyone on the roster. And much the same for the Rockets and Thunder.

I think Suggs will be the eventual PG and Cole will be a spark plug off the bench.

Can they pay both of them and then add a $25 million or more a year combo guard?

If they're going to extend both Suggs and Anthony, maybe they'd want to complement them with some length and wingspan in the back court too?

My guess is that the Lakers are doing this to make Curry as uncomfortable as possible.

Doesn't work unless they do something with Westy.

And they traded away their best defensive player on the wing and added yet another small guard.

They added a starter, even as limited as he is, and that's generally positive, but they clearly need to do more moves.

Not sure why they added the 2 2nd rounders, but I'd be all over a Poeltl for Wiseman swap. He's one of the best interior defenders in the league and also has real passing/screening skill on offense. He's basically a bigger Looney.

The only scary part is Poeltl is a free agent after the season, so I guess it depends on what people are thinking his next contract will be. But if its about the amount its currently at (8-12m range) then I'd love to have him and Loon as our center spot for the next 5 years.
