And Kris Dunn. Knew I forgot someone. They have a few guys with pretty iffy defense, so Dunn could be a nice complement.

They signed free agents when they have all these high picks, most of them recent, in the same positions.
For instance, if Collins splits minutes with Gallo, it probably means they won't keep him.
Same for Huerter, now that they signed Bogdan and Dunn.
Same to a lesser extent for all the forwards like Reddish and Hunter.
Huerter and Collins were not lottery picks but Reddish and Hunter were.
Huerter has shot 38% from 3 on 5 attempts per game over his 130 games. He's got good size but not sure if he's athletic enough to be a great defender. Well the team wasn't good on defense which is why they signed someone like Dunn. He played 31 minutes so it will be interesting to see what his minutes are this season. He becomes RFA in the summer of 2022.
Dunn and Rondo are on 1-year deals so Atlanta may not bother resigning them if they don't contribute or the team doesn't make the playoffs.
Gallo is signed for the next 3 seasons and Hunter and Reddish both become RFAs as Gallo finishes his deal. If they don't show improvement, presumably Atlanta would look to trade them, even if they're lotto picks. But Gallo would be 35 so they will either offer him a much smaller contract or just let him walk and probably keep at least one of the lotto picks.
It's interesting though, you are taking minutes away from key draft prospects. But owners wanted to speed up the timeline and get into the playoffs now.

So glad NBA did not bend over to LeQueen and LAL for Deng. Welcome to luxury tax nightmare. Any team that has LeBron should be paying luxury tax for refs helping him win championships.

"Pacers offered Celtics Myles Turner and first-rounder in Gordon Hayward sign-and-trade"
This is crazy on both ends especially the Celtics.

Celtics preferred Tristan Thompson over Myles Turner.

When a team is trying to dump a player while calling him a "star" you should step back and think about what they know that you don't.
Turner looks good, but he's lacking in consistency and he's not improving.

No they don’t. I fully guarantee they’d rather have Turner over Thompson. There’s more to that story for sure. Like what was actually the talks and terms. Nobody really knows how it went down.
If Danny Ainge thought Thompson over Turner, then a.) he’s becoming senile, or b.) his head is lodged high up into his ass.

I’ve always been a fan of Tristen Thompson’s game .but I haven’t paid any attention at all towards the Cavs in a couple years..maybe he’s deteriorated?

Ainge just overplayed his hand with Indy and lost. Now he probably needs to add a protected 1st to get that trade exception.

Re: Around the NBA IV
Last I heard, it was called a “sign-and-trade”, not a “trade, and then convince the guy to sign”. I mean, Sacramento and the Bucks are being investigated for a similar situation (although a big part of their problem is because they were dealing with a free agent several days before talks were supposed to start).
My point is, the entire transaction hinges on where Hayward wants to go, not where Boston wants him to go. Do we have any idea what Indiana was willing to offer Hayward? Maybe they offered him something like 4 years, $95M, and Hayward said “I’m taking the extra money Charlotte is going to pay me”. At the point Hayward decided to go with Charlotte, the idea of sign-and-trading him for Turner is done. Boston has no control of where he’s going.

If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

Re: Around the NBA IV
Hayward wanted to go to Indy. And Indy told Ainge their price. And Ainge got greedy. So Hayward's agent told Ainge the S&T is dead and took the Charlotte deal.
No team will trade with Ainge around the league now... Unless he is the one bending over.

Re: Around the NBA IV
I read that Hayward's preference was IND and the proposed contract was around 4 years/$100 mil. But Ainge was ask asking for too much and IND wasn't willing to meet the asking price. That allowed CHA to come over the top. What it looks like to me is that Ainge played hardball and it backfired.
Now CHA and BOS have discussed a potential sign and trade. BOS would get a huge TPE and CHA wouldn't need to stretch Batum, but it would require a 3rd team taking Batum and I'm having trouble finding the team that would make that happen!

Seems like just the Knicks have the room for that. If I were them, I'd ask for a lottery protected 1st from each and a full allotment of cash coming with it.

Man...what did Hayward do to deserve that contract? He didn't show much since he went to Boston.

Ainge fleeced the Nets and Sixers. Now he thinks he can screw every team over with his bag of beans. Just getting Turner would have been great, but he wanted more and now he gets nothing.
The Celtics window is now.

Well. He just got the largest TPE in NBA history for two 2nds. But MJ wouldn't quite give Ainge enough for Beal even though he could have.

He did better than that. He turned Hayward leaving for nothing into a huge TPE and turned 2 2nd round picks into 1 possibly better 2nd round pick.

I'm guessing that 2nd going back is top 55 protected or some such thing.
Return to Golden State Warriors
