You think we'd bring in Cory Joseph as the primary replacement for Poole?

Joseph replaces Jerome.. there has never and will never be a big roster move that hinges on a Cory Joseph deal

Well, you were the one talking about the Warriors' possible interest in Siakam for being the reason that they haven't picked up any free agents.

If the Dubs are interested in Siakam I am guessing JK has to be in the deal so who would the salary ballast be for Siakam? Wiggins, Paul or Klay?

i did what?

Siakam wants to sign a 5-year super max with Toronto.

He doesn't want to get traded until he gets that bag.

Most likely cp

Curry/Joseph
Klay/gp2/podz
Wiggins/moody
Siakam
Dray/Looney/tjd

Or

Curry/cp3/Joseph
Klay/gp2/podz
Wiggins/moody
Dray/jk
Looney/tjd

Which is why he would be traded as a rental. Toronto shouldn’t want to pay him a max when they have to rebuild now.

We’d be trading jp for siakam. Joseph would then be our back up pg since cp is gone. Our backup sg is podz and still is podz. Our back up pg last year was draymond.

Dray wasn't our backup PG last year.. but whatever, call positions however you like.. we didnt trade Poole to make Cory Joseph the 3rd handler on the team. And we didn't draft Podz to be that either

Fantasy book it all you like, but CP3 is playing here this year unless Masai gets really charitable and only to the Warriors

It’s obviously a long shot. But siakam is a better fit than cp3 and I would have to imagine that they’re looking into it which is why it’s taking them longer to fill out the roster.

They were able to sign a 3rd string pg pretty quickly once they realized Ty was gone.

Yes no one official has said we have sniffed around but we’ve spoken to them before.

Is the cp3 trade even official yet?

There was one guy quoting Grange, and then Zach Lowe speculating on his podcast that Siakam would make sense to move. Neither is saying we're a likely destination. CP3 trade is official July 6th.

Don't want Green, but grabbing the other three would be the dream scenario. Finally have some frontcourt help.

Want to point out that like Saric, Green tore his ACL.. Saric is 2 years out so this is the typical time for full recovery. Green is 1.5 out, so he should be looking like full strength at some point this season. Yes he's old, but his quickness was never the big part of his game. Still a very reliable 3&D guy, though you cant have him guarding premier players anymore

Really the Toronto board has an 11 page thread since it was reported yesterday that siakam is being shopped.

The Toronto board has an 11 page thread if one of their players farts. I scanned it, there's one tweet by a writer many of them say has been wrong many times before. There's also a report that Siakam likes Toronto and doesn't want to extend elsewhere, making trades involving him potentially difficult.

I also didn't see a single report mentioning our team... plus I think once we acquire CP3 we can't trade him until like January, so you'd be talking trading Klay I think. Tough to really give this any energy.

I'd be very surprised if we turned around and traded CP3, but this is only mostly true. Unless it changed in the most recent CBA, we can trade him, we just can't combine him with other players in a trade. As is, he makes $30m, and Siakam makes $34.2m, so their salaries are close to matching up. If they're close enough, we'd then need to make some other deal in parallel to make it at all appealing to Toronto, and I have little idea what that would look like.

I still don't think this is at all likely, but if we're dreaming stuff up anyway, I'd be intrigued by a starting lineup of Steph, Wiggins, Siakam, Draymond, and Looney. We'd suddenly go from being small to somewhat big. But then your 2nd lineup looks something like Joseph, Klay, GP2, Kuminga, and somebody, and I suspect we'd again find the second unit was a big problem. That's why I think they're genuinely excited to have CP3 here.

Yea Green is def more of a F then G now. I think it’s far enough out that it should be ok and ultimately I want Moody getting a lot of those minutes anyway. Green is just a damn good vet to have around. Those 3 would bring us to 15 and give us players that can handle just about any look we need them to.

The cost of filling a 15th roster spot, minimum salary + tax, is a little over $16M. I think it's safe to say they'll be going into the season with 14 + 3 two-ways.
