Really the Toronto board has an 11 page thread since it was reported yesterday that siakam is being shopped.
The Toronto board has an 11 page thread if one of their players farts. I scanned it, there's one tweet by a writer many of them say has been wrong many times before. There's also a report that Siakam likes Toronto and doesn't want to extend elsewhere, making trades involving him potentially difficult.
I also didn't see a single report mentioning our team... plus I think once we acquire CP3 we can't trade him until like January, so you'd be talking trading Klay I think. Tough to really give this any energy.
I'd be very surprised if we turned around and traded CP3, but this is only mostly true. Unless it changed in the most recent CBA, we can trade him, we just can't combine him with other players in a trade. As is, he makes $30m, and Siakam makes $34.2m, so their salaries are close to matching up. If they're close enough, we'd then need to make some other deal in parallel to make it at all appealing to Toronto, and I have little idea what that would look like.
I still don't think this is at all likely, but if we're dreaming stuff up anyway, I'd be intrigued by a starting lineup of Steph, Wiggins, Siakam, Draymond, and Looney. We'd suddenly go from being small to somewhat big. But then your 2nd lineup looks something like Joseph, Klay, GP2, Kuminga, and somebody, and I suspect we'd again find the second unit was a big problem. That's why I think they're genuinely excited to have CP3 here.
