Depending on whom they draft and maybe sign in free agency, he may not get much playing time or a spot.

How was he projected in the top 10 in his draft class at one time?

Nico is still not shooting a great percentage from 3, is still shy taking the shot, and is not really creating angles for his teammates as much as I'd like.

His size, and lower than expected performance in college.

Payton Pritchard is a similar sized guard, who played at a conference rival.

He can play a bit and shot it well in his rookie year.

Mannion got way more pub than he deserved. If he shoots the 3 well, he'll stay on rosters. If he doesn't he won't, simple as that.

And 33% may be good enough if his game is complete otherwise.

I’m a little perplexed at the fact that Nico is supposed to be a true point guard. But it seems he really looks to score more.

I think the evolution of the position has shifted the balance point of what a "true" point guard is.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

I don't really get it either. He's got decent handle and CAN pass, he just doesn't create the angles and the openings like a "true PG" is expected to.

He actually shot a decent percentage from 3 (36.7%) with the Warriors last year, but like Sleepy said he just couldn't beat anybody off the dribble and put pressure on the rim, and didn't have a floater or midrange game either.

Hopefully Mannion pulls a 2nd year Jordan Poole and comes out next year being able to get to the rim and finish.
I'm not going to say that Curry is God. But he is definitely a god. -NeoWarriors

Again….even if he wants a two way contract, he’s got to get in the booth. He can spray tan, you people worried about UV rays

Right ... so shooting the 3 isn't enough. He needs a more complete game than just shooting.

The hottest of takes...

Nico had 21 pts, 7 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 turnover today against Australia. Italy lost by 3, but Australia is the better team on paper, so it was a still a good performance for Italy.
Nico shot extremely well from 2 (8/10) and poorly from 3 (1/5).
After 2 games he has 14 assists and only 2 turnovers which is very very good, especially considering FIBA assists aren't as generous as NBA assists.

I think if Nico can improve his 3 point shooting he can be a really good player.

For comparison, Mills had 16 pts and 5 assists, shooting 35% from the field.

A very good performance on the whole from Nico on the Italian team. Is he their best player?

Looks like Gallinari and Melli are there too but Nico's producing more.

Italy's performance is making me reassess Mannion. I was wondering if he had what it takes to play in the NBA. This says yes.

I like Nico, but I think it going this long makes me think he fundamentally is never going to be a 3 point threat which certainly hurts his stock with the Warriors.

Not sure I understand, he’s 20 years old. What do you mean by “it going this long..”?

FIBA and the NBA are very different games. There are players who destroy their opponents in FIBA basketball, but are/were ordinary in NBA rules.

For example: Luis Scola.

As for Nico, happy for him. He's still young in the sense that he can improve quite a bit.

Let's see how Nico's situation will make the team avoid drafting PGs tomorrow. For instance, I believe they didn't work out Springer.

I think Nico's performance in the Olympics bodes well for his ability to be a regular player in the NBA. Whether the situation on the Warriors is the right one is still wide open.

Of course, that's the same I said in my post.
