If wiseman is the real deal should he be leading the scoring for the 2nd unit?

I’m impressed.

It was also our first time seeing him on the court with NBA guys and he’s huge. Crazy how he has all that size yet still has mobility and high athleticism.

With no preseason and training camp, this was a good performance IMO. This game was pretty much a warm up game for him; even rookies with a full preseason get jitters in their first regular season game, so seeing Wiseman do this without any preseason at all was nice.

Seems like he went super light in the beginning to get his feet wet and get a feel for the system, but later started getting more comfortable.

And yes he did score a chunk of points in garbage time but it coincided with him finally getting a rhythm of the system and gaining confidence later on, so I fully expect him to be able to do this in regular minutes.

Also, it wasn’t just Wiseman, but his teammates also getting a feel for him. Now that they got this under their belt they’ll probably be feeding Wiseman a bit more, especially since he showed his ability to knock down open shots. There were times when Steph had the ball and seemed to resist passing it to James; most likely he didn’t want to overwhelm him and put him in too many situations where he had to score as Kerr wants to keep things simple for Wiseman for now. But after this game I can see Steph making use of Wiseman’s scoring ability real soon.

Wiseman showed a lot in game 1. He grabbed rebounds, deterred shots, and cut to the hoop for dunks which were all things we anticipated and hoped for. He was able to attack off the dribble for a quick dribble drive, I felt like he needed this but wasn’t sure he could execute that. Pretty much every center outside Chriss we’ve had in the Kerr era has been unable to do anything with a dribble. He drilled some outside shots which was a big debate here in the offseason, a lot of people on the general board are calling it “garbage time” but an outside shot is an outside shot you either have it or don’t regardless of where and when. Just the fact that he can already shoot dramatically raises his upside. He had a couple post ups where I thought he made really good moves he just missed them, but if he can hit an outside shot I am not worried about inside touch.

I would’ve never imagined that Wiseman would score as many points in his NBA debut as Wiggins and Oubre combined. I was on board drafting Wiseman all year but he exceeded my expectations in game 1. I get the feeling Wiseman is gonna be a monster this year just because he can do so many different things and that’s tough to plan for.

Loved the potential in that 2 man game with Curry that got him the finger roll. If Wiseman has the ball and his man tries to follow Curry at all Wiseman can make a quick drive to the hoop with the rim protection trailing. That was a wing he dusted too. Imagine a C trying to guard that. Once teams scout it, and have to rotate with their rim protection gone, Wiseman can pass out to the corner and with Curry still moving may get Curry some nice shots off of ball movement.

Look at these two debut videos.....I think Wiseman has a chance at being a similar player to Anthony Davis. The both move well (I think AD has a little quicker twitch muscle), both have a pretty slow jump shot delivery. Wiseman is definitely a little rougher but project him out one year and I think they are very close.

I mean....yikes...if he's close to being an AD type player....Warriors are set for the next 5 years for some deep playoff runs (so bummed Klay isn't playing!)

It's like his first game in almost 2 years so I like his confidence in his shot. I didn't like the long long 2's. I mean your a foot away from a 3.. perhaps just shoot the 3? His rebounding seemed low but it could be that the Nets didn't miss. Also he seemed to clog up the paint a bit on offense so I guess we're not use to that. We also need to see what the plan is when they put a small on him. He tried to post up a couple times and things seemed rushed. In garbage time he threw up a awkward dirk looking jump shot. I loved that they let him bring the ball up to push the break when he rebounds it.

I think if he averages 15 and 8 in around 24 mins, it'll be a win. This is with greater than 50% shooting. Greater than 33% from 3.

We did get to see that briefly. What I do like is he does know how to seal off the defender to get proper post position down low. On one play he had a smaller defender sealed off pretty good but Steph airmailed the pass.

Remember when people wanted to trade down for freaking Wendell Carter Jr (which the bulls fans are **** on now) and Mitchell Foul Robinson. I member because I was heavily against it and said those players are heavily overrated, which they are and were never worth the talent differential. I just don't understand how people were not seeing what I was seeing in Wiseman, it was so obvious

Slow your roll with the AD comparisons.

For one thing, he needs a couple of years of lifting and training to be strong as AD.

He also needs to find sweet spots and just practice shots from those, go through a lot of repetitive drills to make those automatic.

Let's see how hard a worker he is.

Of course....but remember I'm showing tape...so it's really judging for yourself by looking at the tapes side by side.

Maybe because I'm old, I'm just going to enjoy this year. It will be the weirdest in a long time, and that's okay with me -- in fact, better than okay. Before 2020, all we had to worry about was not winning the title, which meant failure was our constant fear. Let the fading-Lebron Lakers and the Nets or Bucks fight it out for the championship this year. We'll be getting used to our new seven-foot rookie and finding a way to get Curry shots without Klay. Then, NEXT YEAR, we'll have a serious team one way or another. And Wiseman is only going to get better. I'm not claiming Anthony Davis/David Robinson or anything -- way too early -- but he's going to be a seriously good player and his potential is very, very big.

Which is why most of us had decided he was the right choice by (or in some cases, long before) the time draft day came around. It would have been stupid to ignore all that upside in favor of short-term props for an already-compromised 2020-21 Ws season.

If there's ever anyone who's likely to be a top player for several more years, it's Curry. Competitor, healthy, stable, and his biggest skill is going to be useful for probably at least four or five more years if he wants to play, because shooters don't lose the ability to shoot. Klay still has good years in him if he can avoid injuries. Draymond -- well, he'll compete no matter what. I'm looking forward to it all.

Wiseman’s improved his mobility/skills a lot since his last college game..I didn’t understand the great work ethic this kid has..Props to The Real King James and his Miami trainers

How the flying **** could a warriors fan be disappointed about the nets game? I just don’t *get* most of you..

During that one game he showed signs of having a viable jumpshot as a 7 foot tall 19 year old. Ben Simmons hasn't done that in 4 years.

wow, GSW really did a great job throwing out all these smokescreens about trading down in the draft

Granted, Wolves already had Anthony Town but Wiseman is definitely the BPA and GSW made a good successful 1-year tank in the vein of San Antonio

As a Raps fan, congrats and very envious of this core your team has now.
And also a owner that's willing to go crazy into the tax

As someone who has mentioned the name Davis with Wiseman I’m not saying I think he’ll be as good. I just think if things fall into place he can be a big with such a valuable skill set that his value is amazing and worth more than just another good wing. Obviously wings are more valuable but if you can get that big that allows you to play big with good lateral movement and an outside shot then you have an advantage for n the ability to play big lineups that fit the game rather than compromise by having to play average wings
