Twinkie defense wrote:Not better? Defensive stiff?? His three is not automatic like it was last season and he needs to diversify his offensive repertoire as teams are now wary of his shot. But his defense is MUCH better this season. He's on a pretty good sophomore track I would say, perfect fit for the team and a plus/minus leader - all when we thought Horford was gonna be that guy.
I wouldn't mind seeing him improve his...well...post play offensively, but I'm not convinced he needs to do anything when he's out on the line, which is where he usually is. He's been trying to fake and drive or relocate lately, with disastrous results, and I mean EVERY TIME he tries something other than shooting or passing, that ball is getting turned over. But the thing is, the dude is 7 feet tall. Unless Wemby is on him, that shot isn't getting blocked. When's the last time you saw Post get blocked shooting a 3? Ever? Dribble-drive is not the answer for him IMO, it's ugly and dangerous and I don't see it getting better to the point where it yields better results than just shooting (or passing). His 3 ball is elite, he just needs reps and more confidence. Unlike with guards I don't think closeouts are a huge problem. Even if his defender wants to stick to him like glue, that's drawing the defense out and leaving a hole somewhere for someone else to exploit (hello, Jimmy, GP2, and JK).
