The thing that confuses me about Nico is that he measured out at a legitimate 6'3 but looks like he's under 6' when he's playing. Where's the illusion?

They measured to the top of his hair?

Not sure I understand, he’s 20 years old. What do you mean by “it going this long..”?

I guess you are right, it just seems like he misses a lot of 3s and it makes him take them less. I hope he gets it together because if he can hit 40% they will have to be up on him more which will open up his game a lot.

The other skill I hope he can develop is using the threat of his offense to create angles and openings for teammates.

I like the rest of his game.

In 9 games in the G-League, Mannion shot 36.0% from 3 on 9.1 3PA per36. In 30 games in the NBA, Mannion shot 36.7% from 3 on 5.9 3PA per36.

I think the shooting indicators are decent for Mannion.

The issue I saw with Mannion last year was inability to get to the rim and inability to finish when he got there. 31.5% on 2P in the G-League and 44.9 2P% in the NBA.

What I'm looking for in the Olympics is Mannion being able to beat his man off the dribble and being able to finish inside, or at least have a floater.

Mannion's assist rate (6.9 ast per36 in NBA) is good enough for a point guard, so if he can fill that dribble attack hole in his offense, he'd be a solid backup PG.

Mannion must've bought all that lumber pre-covid

Can't imagine his 2way contract could afford all that

The Warriors extended a qualifying offer to Mannion, which makes him a restricted free agent.

I have to admit that I’m not sure about this, but I’d assume that means he has to be offered some kind of full-deal contract (i.e. not a two-way). It would seem start getting that they’d be able to offer a half-axx deal such as a two-way, but I could be wrong.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

In Nico's case (since he only has one year on a two-way under his belt) the qualifying offer is a Two-Way contract, with $50,000 guaranteed. Now, if another team offers him a minimum contract and the Warriors match, he has to have a roster spot.

Got it….. thanks for clarifying. I’d assumed that a qualifying offer had to be for a full deal, but….. yeah, I’m wrong.

But either way, I think he’ll get a full deal, and will be our 2.5th-string point guard. (Poole playing a lot of point ahead of him, but Mannion being behind him.)

You are right for a player who has 2 or 3 years on a two-way behind him. Then a QO is a standard minimum contract with the two-way salary guaranteed.

50k probably have to have an apt. In SF.

That’s kind of tough.

He couldn’t have done much with an off-season program, playing in the Olympics.

The Olympics are 2 weeks. He's got plenty of time to get back into the facility and be magically developed by our new developmental staff.

Edit: Also he made ~400k last year with all the time spent on the big club.

So he can afford a 400sqft single in SF.

Well not sure why he'd be up in SF when he's on a two-way. He'd probably keep a place down in Santa Cruz and hotel it when he's with the big club. Actually i dont know how those accomodations are handled. I wonder if the team has corporate housing for 2-way guys / trades / etc.

I was joking :)

I think the 2-ways, now that they are limited by games not days, probably spend as much time as possible with the big team and my guess is they live in team housing.

If Nico doesn’t get a better haircut and also tan……I can’t have him representing the Warriors in the airport or coming off buses. He kills our street cred.

Pick up your swag game Nico, or Im done with you.

Oh and Nico, You’re supposed to be a pure point guard……pass the effing ball more. You’re looking for your own shot to much on the Warriors.
