Some interesting (a tad) under the radar players to monitor leading up to the draft : Josh Green, Cassius Stanley, Jordan Nwora and Paul Reed from DePaul.

DePaul is fun to watch and he's a huge part of it. Dude is legit when you envision him at small forward in the NBA.

The fact that he shoots it so well from 3, and he blocks the Hell out of shots, makes him a perfect fit.

Thanks for posting, but that video is nothing but dunks and back door cuts.

You have to watch a live game with him to see how impact all over the floor, throughout the game. Dude played 40 minutes last game.

He's a head of the spear defender who guards every position all over the floor, but often at the top to disrupt entry passing.

Also love DePauls point Guard Moore. My goodness is he a great passer. They have a super fun team.

Right now DePaul is 9-0 and Reed is buried in the 2nd round of the draft. If they make noise in the Tourney his draft stock should rise significantly.

I think he's an absolute perfect fit for what we need. I'm going to call Bob right now....but if Dunleavy answers the phone I'm hanging up!

Cassius Stanley isn't skilled enough and Jordan Nwora is terrible on defense. Josh Green is very nice. Paul Reed is a good prospect, too, but not for the spot where we are likely to pick.

we need to focus on defenders / team players who has decent range and can handle the ball a little. Any good SF/PF fits the role here?

I still remember all those drafts where we got guys like todd fuller and past up the best players available due to trying to fill a need. Draft the best player available because that assets has the most value after the draft if they live up to the draft gods odds. Drafting a need decreases the odds of having a valuable asset. We trade for need.

I agree with this. Even better, trade the pick for need before draft day, when everyone still has stars in their eyes over draft prospects.

I'm definitely intrigued by him. He went from 6'5" to 6'9" his senior year of high school, so he still has a lot of room to grow as he gets used to his body. I want to see more from him in terms of ball skills and as a shooter because right now he seems more like a stretch 4 in the NBA.

Not sure if he will be able to maintain his three point shooting since he is shooting 39% on only 2 attempts a game. His form looks a little weird, but I think it can be ironed out. If he is able to maintain a pretty good percentage from three then his potential to play the 3 greatly increases.

His potential reminds me a little of Siakam coming out of college, not saying he will be as good as Siakam, but the defensive potential due to his size and athleticism is similar. Siakam's offensive development has been pretty remarkable, so it's unreasonable to expect Reed to do that but Reed's three point shot does seem to be farther ahead than Siakam's was.

If the Warriors are able to get an early second round pick or late first, I could see him as a good fit that could provide some defensive minutes off the bench next year.

Did you not read my post?

I literally have you the perfect fit. Paul Reed DePaul

Now we need to find a way to grab him other than using our top pick. He's listed deep in the 2nd round now, but come draft time he will rise into the 1st round.

Maybe through a Russell deal we get a late first?

I'm not sure this is the year you can trade a #1 for something "amazing". Lamelo Ball isn't getting you Giannis, i don't think at least, so I view this fear as pretty lame.

(Having said that, you guys should be great next year just because the core is still Steph, Klay and Draymond, and that's still really freaking good! That's the reason to fear the Warriors, not for a "gap" year.)

Looks good. Funny shot release, but so does Paschall. He has a lot of nuance around the rim, can go to a number of different shots and areas to get the shot he wants from all of the spots within 5-8 feet. Love that little roll into the lane from a post and his 1 handed push shot, very controlled. Really long, lopey runner and makes up ground really quickly. He even has a euro step on some of those moves.

Surely a guy like that won't last to the 2nd round.

I wanna say again, that video doesn't do him justice. You need to watch him play an entire game. He's all over the floor and he's gotore range than what you see in the video.

This one is a little better. Shows more range from him.

Kind of an odd shot, but looks like he's got a nice touch. Also seems quite content to use the backboard instead of going for the slam. That's not a bad thing.

I like that guys understanding of angles and using his length with his moves around the rim. He’s crafty and is thinking ahead of time, that will translate in the NBA.

Loved Nwora last year when I thought he could be available at our late 1st (obv. until he withdrew from the draft).

This is the only game he's made more than one 3 this season. Based on that shooting motion, I'm not at all sure he's someone that can make a high% on more attempts. He's also a poor ball handler and a marginal finisher in traffic or against legit bigs. He's long but he's skinny and appears to get knocked off balance easily when finishing.

His most NBA ready ability is as a help shot blocker. His length and ball hunting instincts look legit and he has a nose for rebounds and the length the grab them out of his zone.

Obi Toppin moving up in many mock drafts. Just sayin'. Name alone would be worth the pick.

Return to Golden State Warriors
