I think "they" really need to decide if Podz should be on ball as much as he is. I get that he can nominally handle the ball but I think most of the time he is just bogging down the offense with his dribble. He's not really pulling defenders. I notice that nobody ever leaves Moody to collapse on the paint when it's Kuminga or Podz with the ball and that is what we need. If anything Richard probably does a better job of that. Jimmy can pull a defender from the wing when he drives or isos, but Podz just kind of dribbles around the elbow and it doesn't draw any wing defenders because he's so easy to defend. JK can't really dribble more than once or twice before turning it over so he's not enough of a threat to draw doubles or even just pull a defender from the perimeter.

This team needs to get Moody, Post, and Richard more open shots. And they may have to just make Podz a 3-pt shooter and cutter like Richard. I think Melton might be better than Podz at what Podz is trying to do, we'll see. But Melton playing at all is almost a hypothetical at this point. NOt going to count any chickens yet.

Podz is trying to create more offense this year, not to any success. They will have to scale back his role and have him spot up and attack closeouts. We know that when we run the offense through Steph and Jimmy we find success, which is what we did down the stretch of last season. This year we're opening the offense up and trying to run offense through Podz, JK, and Buddy to very little success currently. This is going to be another carry job by Steph and Jimmy the whole year it appears.

My comps for Podz were always Ty Jerome and DDV. He has a ways to go to be as useful as either of those guys.

Jerome is nice. Can score 15 and great creator and three point shooter. DDV is much worse and does not do anything well.

He doesn't have Jerome's craftiness and smoothness.

Imo the problem with Podz is that he doesn't have a scoring move when he gets near the basket. He needs to be a threat to score or his entire gameplan is to run inside and throw the ball out to the perimeter.

Physically he can't draw fouls or finish through a lot of contact so it's not like he can do much there. Unless he learns how to pump fake like Butler. Didn't he have a flip up/floater shot in his first year? It's really frustrating because I do think that he's capable of having a better offensive impact.

This is crazy I was about to post the same thing. He thinks he is Podz. That's why he's letting him do whatever he wants on the court and not really refining his game.
