Ish Smith is probably the guy we can get, maybe Patty. Maybe just draft Dosonmu at #14.

I wouldn't take Dosonmu at 14. I'd try to trade down for 2 lesser picks and grab him with one.

If we are fine with Dosunmu as our back-up PG, we might as well just call use Poole. Dosunmu is a CG – he can make plays, but he's not really a PG, at least not any more than Poole is. Better than reaching for him, as he's probably still available later in the 1st round.

Re: Free Agent Talk
If the Warriors take a playmaker at 7, even if they are not a PG it takes some of the pressure off getting a "true PG".
Poole, Wiggins, JTA, Paschal, and Nico could all realistically make progress in the "playmaking" part of their games in the Warriors system, unfortunately none of them are likely to have the stabilizing effect Livingston/Iguodala had, but I think we all realize that player isn't really out there to be had by the Warriors.
All that said, TJ McConnell, to me, is clearly the best case possible assuming #7 isn't Suggs/Mitchell. They MAY choose to go forward with #14 being Mann or Springer but I doubt it.

Would you use the MLE on McConnell?

Yes. The bigs out there are mostly not worth it.
If it was TJ or Olynyk for the TPMLE ... I think I'd go for TJ, but Olynyk is my 2nd favorite target for the MLE.
Of course both may get more.

Re: Free Agent Talk
TJ would be an instant fan favorite with his hustle and grit. The Warriors have needed a backup PG like him for a while now.

How do you all feel about adding George Hill if he becomes a FA?

I'd really like to add a PG who's more of a pure PG than a combo.. and/or someone who's a good defender. Since Poole is likely to man one of the guard spots, want a complementary player to him. None really jump to mind TBH, but Hill isnt that. He actually looked kinda cooked this year, and especially so once he moved to Philly
Guarantee that he will be FA though, PHI isn't paying 10m for him

Re: Free Agent Talk
It's tough to find someone valuable on a vet min -- DWest was the last one I recall, willing to give up about 10 mil to chase a ring.

I'd be cool with it for the vet. minimum. We really can't be that choosy because the FA market for pgs are slim.

Really need to wait for the draft before this conversation means anything.

In a vacuum I’d sign McConnell hands down.

I've been there from the start. "Hey TJ, you can start next to Curry ... can you imagine how much space you'll have?"

Naw, no midget ball. I mentioned it in the JP thread. TJ is a bad idea. You don't play small guys more than maybe 12 mpg when Steph is on your team.
TPMLE better spent on a wing

In the draft thread I proposed moving down to 9 to get Delon Wright and 39. The money works fine if we send some of the spare part contracts we have since Delon's contract is a bit lower next year than this. In this draft 39 could get you some nice value like Greg Brown or Roko Prkacin to either stash in the G-league or use as trade bait.
This would solve a bunch of problems for the dubs. Like you said, getting a playmaker other than with our top 10 pick, gives us more options there. Plus it is still very likely a player Myers likes will still be there at 9. We could potentially get PG Wright, SF Moody or Wagner and PF Brown (who I'd rather develop instead of Smiley or EP) instead of just Mitchell or just Giddey at 7.
Wright is 4-5 inches taller than T.J., has had similar defensive numbers, shoots way better from 3 and could play with Steph and Klay without giving up so much size. Since their PER numbers are almost identical, I'd favor size every time. In either case I think Mitchell's ceiling is only slightly higher than what TJ or Wright already are: 2 of the top 20-30 PGs in the league. So I'd rather have either of them than wait for Mitchell to reach that potential even if he gets to be a top 15 PG. I seriously doubt he would ever crack the top 10 and get Bob fired for passing on him. I could be wrong and I do like him a lot, but his size is worrisome to me.
This would also open up the FA search since you already have playmaking , defense and shooting covered in the second unit. I'd have steph, klay and dray take Batum to the Hamptons to convince him to take our TPMlE if that's what it takes.
At 14 more things open up as well you could take Garuba for his defense and the second unit could still be ok offensively. Or take a flyer on Jalen Johnson and his super high potential. Or trade down again and get something from Okc so you can draft Trey Murphy at 16 or 18.
then sign Gorgui Dieng to the minimum and you're all set.

Re: Free Agent Talk
I wonder if Dipo might be available on a one year “prove it” deal a la Cousins in 2019. Hesitant to spend a lot on another injury prone guy but he could be a serious buy low candidate

I'd be fine with that. TJ was because to me he's CLEARLY the best FA PG the Warriors would have a shot at.
